It compiles from source just fine on my 64bit system. Maybe you don't have some libraries it needs. What's the output of
ldd vssetup-64
If there are some libraries that are not found, try installing your distribution's packages of those libraries. And it would help to know what distro you're using, since different distros ship different versions of libraries, and install different sets of things by default.
