Uel and all who have access to the vectorlinux account, You need to run the trigger-vectorlinux script after you make any update, no matter how trivial, to the repository. Otherwise, the changes won't be pushed out to the other boxes at osuosl.org that handle the bulk of the ftp traffic. The script is in the /home/vectorlinux directory. Once it's run, it takes about 5 minutes for the changes to propagate to the other boxes. Thanks, John On 7/31/06, uel archuletta <ue...@gm...> wrote: > have you tried logging in to ftp-osl and checking that way? > all i can think of is that maybe the files are not public yet > > > > > On 7/31/06, Vanger < fa...@gm...> wrote: > > You are looking in > > On Mon, 31 Jul 2006 23:47:21 +0400, uel archuletta <ue...@gm...> > > wrote: > > > ftp-osl:/~/Repo/veclinux-current/iso-test > > and everything is there. > > > > We are looking in > > > http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-current/iso-test/ > > and there is nothing, exept of old 5.9.7.4 > > > > Maybe, somehow we are looking in different directories? > > > > -- > > Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Take Surveys. We have a new dynamite test iso up you can get it here http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-current/iso-test/VLdynamite-5.9.8.7.iso there is a delta here http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-current/iso-test/VLdyn-5.9.7.4to5.9.8.7.delta the delta is quite large becase of all the changes This new iso has new glibc, new kernel headers, and new kernel, because of this we need to start rebuilding all the packages that end in 4vl5 or 4vl6. I would recommend using the version designation 4vl58 as in (for vector linux 5.8) to help us tell the packages apart. please download and switch over to this new Dynamite ASAP Thanks, Uel Archuletta |

Therefore, beginning with the final release of Zenwalk Linux 2.6, the source code of all GPLed binary code used in Zenwalk Linux products, regardless of whether Zenwalk Linux has modified it, will be made available in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the GPL license. At this present time, our internet based source tree is a work in progress. However, we can provide a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code, per request, as per section 2b of the GPL v. 2 , for a charge of no more than our cost of physically performing source distribution, on a medium customarily used for software interchange. To contact Zenwalk Linux to request the source code, please send your request by email to: axxium.zenlnx~AT~gmail.com To read a copy of the the GPL "General Public License" you may follow this link. General Public License version 2 ================= I think that we should post something similar on our main home page to cover our butts for past versions of VL. With the veclinux-current directory I am working to ensure that our packagers get us links to source code so that the source sub under the veclinux-current tree will get populated correctly. Thoughts, anyone? ;-) Cheers, John |

I'm going to add to my previous reply so that I (and hopefully the rest of us on the list) understand what a changelog for packages will entail. 1) The ChangeLog.txt should reside at the same level in the repository as the PACKAGES.TXT and md5sum files. 2) The changelog entries should list the subdirectory of the changed package, the package name and the reason for the change. To swipe an example from the slackware-current changelog: xap/seamonkey-1.0.3-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to seamonkey-1.0.3. This upgrade fixes several possible security bugs. For more information, see: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#seamonkey (* Security fix *) 3) Each day's worth of changes should have a time stamp at the top and a separator line at the bottom. To apply this process to the VL repository, let's say that we had made this change to veclinux-current at the time I sent this e-mail. The complete changelog entry would look like this: Thu Jul 27 09:41:25 PM EDT 2006 x-apps/seamonkey-1.0.3-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to seamonkey-1.0.3. This upgrade fixes several possible security bugs. For more information, see: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#seamonkey (* Security fix *) +--------------------------+ Please either confirm that my understanding is correct or show me where I am not understanding something. :) Thanks, John On 7/27/06, John B <joh...@gm...> wrote: > Yes, that can be done. :) > > jb > > On 7/27/06, Jason Woodward <woo...@ja...> wrote: > > > > > If you are an active packager for VL, please ensure that I receive > > > your SSH public key via e-mail to johnb316 at gmail dot com. If not, can a new one be started that is similar to the Slackware ChangeLog.txt ? -- Jason Woodward woo...@ja... |

If you are an active packager for VL, please ensure that I receive your SSH public key via e-mail to johnb316 at gmail dot com. Without your key, you will not be able to upload packages into the VL repository. Cheers, John |

There was an advisory from SourceForge today: "( 2006-07-13 09:23:52 - Project CVS Service, Project Shell Service, Project Subversion (SVN) Service, SourceForge.net Web Site ) A recent kernel exploit was released that allowed a non admin user to escalate privileges on the host pr-shell1. We urge all users who frequent this host to change their password immediately and check their project group space for any tampering. As a precaution, we have blocked access to all project resources by password until the user resets their password. After the password has been reset, project resources should be accessible within 5 minutes." Basically this means all of you registered on Source Forge need to go change your passwords. You'll get a "password expired" notice on trying to log in, and the chance to change it after entering your old password. Regards, Joe1962 |

Uh .. I could not find the upload directory at ibiblio.org, and cannot login directly into the repository host (closed because of the hacking ?). Could you just attach it joe ? vl-hot is not too big. --- "Jose J. Rodriguez" <jo...@gm...> wrote: > Missed a little lowercase bug in 0.3.5, sorry about > that.
