Well, I think I didn't test the COW use after compiling with -O1, but it seemed to fix the issue. However, it still hangs after mounting devfs. The amount of memory given to UML didn't seem to have any effect on the problem. I also tried setting /proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield and=20 exec-shield-randomize to 0, but it didn't help. Could my SKAS patch have something to do with this? I merged some of it by hand as it doesn't apply directly over the RHEL kernel (I can contribute the patch if it indeed works properly).
