Hello all, RE: virtual server loses connectivity but processes still running I've been taking a crack at this on and off for the last month or so, and I believe I have discovered a possible cause. First, I noticed this problem seemed to come up whenever a large amount of network traffic was going to/from the virtual server, whether a file transfer, or opening a very large file while SSH'd in. I noticed that the setup on the three virtual servers on different host systems were all the same: - COW filesystem - 96M RAM so I was figuring that this could be a RAM issue, or possibly an issue with using a COW system. Unfortunately the latest virtual server (COW system) I setup suffered the same symptoms, and now freezes during bootup right after enabling swap space, so I just cimply copied over the base filesystem and used that as my 'root_fs' to boot. I booted it with 256M RAM, and scp'd some rather large log filesto the system, which tended to make this proble appear on the previous virtual servers; they went across no problem. My next step will be to try the same thing with only 96M of RAM, then to use a COW system with 256M RAM, and see what happens. I will keep you posted, as this may definately be a bug or caveat that we have here. Or then again, it could just be me :-) Alan |
