I've tried all that you suggested but I still have not been able to solve the following problems: a) I run uml_switch and I bring up two clients, "linux umid=one eth0=daemon ..." and "linux umid=two eth0=daemon ..." In both of the instances, eth0 gets assigned the SAME IP address in BOTH instances and thus I can't get the two clients to communicate. I even tried eth0=daemon,fd:fe:c0:a8:00:0f for the second client. b) Suppose I have only ONE client but I want to have two eth devices configured. I tried doing a "config eth1=daemon,fd:fe:c0:a8:00:0f" from the uml_console. An ifconfig -a shows the eth1 device but a /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart does NOT bring it up. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, Thanks, -- Asim Original Message ---------------- Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 00:23:53 +1200 To: use...@li... You might also try typing the command `ifconfig -a` in the client. > For daemon to work, you must add a mac address. That is not correct. The only time you need to provide a MAC address is when the client will be using DHCP or similar, as the MAC address is otherwise set when the interface receives an IP address. > if you want to emulate different switches, you must start multiple > uml_switch with different unix sockets and change the parameter to your > uml kernel to > > eth0=daemon,fe:fd:0:0:0:1,unix,/path/to/socket This is correct. ===== ___________________________________ Asim Shankar asi...@bi... http://www.geocities.com/asimshankar __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
