Hello, As in a previous post, I am still questing after having a custom root_fs boot without hanging :-) After trying various scripts, including umlbuilder, and having the same problem, I had downloaded a couple of the pre-built filesystems (RH7.2 and Mdk8.2), and they surprisingly booted up flawlessly. However, they're a little older, and I wish to create a couple filesystems based on the newer versions of RH and Mandrake (particularly Mandrake). Apparently these filesystems were built using the 'mkrootfs' scripts, and I figured I would try building my own filesystems with them, and see if perhaps the reason the ones I downloaded worked great was due to something in the way the 'mkrootfs' script built them. I downloaded them from Bill Stearns' site, but ran into some problems, which I have posted about just a few days ago. I am still having troubles (the 'mkrootfs does not have a "help" function) I was wondering if anyone here on the list who uses those scruipts to build their filesystems would be able to describe the steps they take to get the filesystem built? Once I am able to successfuly build a filesystem or two with the scripts, I am thinking I may do a little fixing up, particularly in the area of adding a "help" or "usage" function, and maybe adding some brief usage instructions in the beginning of the script :-) Anyway, your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you, in advance. Alan ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca |
