Sorry for posting this to mail list, should have just
put it here. UML boots my kernel and root file system
fine. When I try to configure the uml ethernet
interface, my host system reboots immediately. The
command line argument to the uml kernel on boot is:
eth0=ethertap,tap0,fe:fd:0:0:0:1,10.10.10.150
The command line argument in UML that causes my host
system to reboot is:
ifconfig eth0 10.10.10.151 netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 10.10.10.255
I have configured the host machine with both the
"Universal TUN/TAP device
driver support" and "Ethertap network tap". This is
reproducible. I'm not
on the list, so please cc me on responses. Thanks a bunch.

When the host kernel crashes, that's a host kernel bug, not
a UML bug.
Collect whatever information you have about the crash and
send it
to the kernel list.
