Hello.
One thing that has been troubling wii u users for a while is the need to switch between HDDs for the wii u and vwii. There seems that a person have found a way around this and have 2 active HDDs on his wii u running wiiflow. Since usb loader gx is the best and biggest loader, I hoped you where interested in reverse analyse this and incorporate it into your system aswel. Here are the info from teh forum, thread at the buttom. the user "nomelas" is the person that managed this!:

Here's what I did to get it to work:

  • beta53-alt installed on cIOS 249, 250 & 251 (following the wiiu hacking guides)
  • WiiU drive plugged into both back ports (using Y cable) & ustealthed FAT32 vWii drive plugged into the front. Though, as long as the wiiU drive is plugged into the top back port, your vWii drive can be plugged into any others afaik.
  • wiiflow and nintendon't files on both the SD and USB.
  • In wiiflow settings: Under startup settings, set Force Load cIOS to on & Force cIOS Revision to 251.
  • In wiiflow settings: Under Game Partitions - Make sure everything is set to USB and not SD
  • In wiiflow settings: Under Path Manager - Make sure all the paths are USB and not SD
  • In wiiflow: In Homebrew menu - Press home and change the Homebrew Partition to USB

Notes:

  • If you want to load homebrew from wiiflow you'll need to add them to the usb.
  • With this setup, you'll no longer need to constantly unplug drives to get things to work (Except if you want to install WUPs to WiiU USB - you still need to unplug the vWii drive)
  • Remember when updating either wiiflow or nintendon't you will need to update both usb and sd files unfortunately.

This seems to work good both on nintendont, wii games and wii u games. So its the best solution out there, unless we somehow find a way to combine 1 HDD for all content.
I hope you have time to look at this so usb loader gx wil function with it, and then its possible to adjust the guides to make sure the cios are ok with it :)

I have also recently run into issues.. I was just wondering if you ever figured anything out.

I am using a WIIU. All apps etc. are on sd card. Only wbfs and games folder with wii and gc games on vWii HDD (FAT32 format).

The only way I can get usbloadergx to load wii games is if it is plugged into the rear top usb port of the WIIU.

If I plug it in any other port, it will display the games but black screen freeze or black screen back to WII system menu when trying to launch WII games.

I also have a WIIU HDD. USBLOADER GX will work fine as long as the wiiU hdd is unplugged. if I leave the WIIU HDD plugged in when launching usbloader GX, it gives message "USB DEVICE NOT INITIALIZED, switching to channel mode" when it is launched.

It doesnt matter which port I have the WIIU HDD plugged into I will always get this message. If I unplug the WIIU HDD the vWII HDD/usbloaderGX works fine (as long as it is in rear top back port).

I wish I could just leave both HDD plugged into the WIIU at the same time. i.e .vWII HDD in back (yplug) with ustealth and WIIU HDD in front with y plug..

    Am I doing something wrong?
