Wiimmfi is a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection replacement. Current patching methods are relatively elaborate, requiring copying to and from a Mac or PC. While the actual patch isn't much more than replacing the URLs it connects to, and  stripping out some checks that it's actually using a secure connection to Nintendo/Gamespy.

What about a (game-dependent) standard setting to "wiimmfi.de" so that even users who do not know about Wiimmfi can still play online like normal?

Maybe this can be implemented only for specific game-IDs (for the games that work on Wiimmfi).

What does "online like normal" mean, now that Nintendo has shut down their servers?

Well, there exists a custom server for many Wii games (named "Wiimmfi").

At the moment, you need to modify your ISO to be able to connect to those.
That means: Only people who have googled for a "custom server" can find this and continue playing.

If the USB-Loader GX would set this kind of patching to the default setting, many players using the USB-Loader GX will automatically play on the custom servers without even knowing that there is one.

Except most (all?) of the game-servers on Wiimmfi only support playing when you know the other person's gamer ID. IMHO, most people play with the random opponent option (less time scheduling with friends across the globe).

    Nice idea to auto-patch though.

At least for Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl, searching for random opponents and friend rooms both work fine, and probably also for the other games. Maybe this kind of "standard setting" can be implemented for specific gameIDs? There is a list on http://wiimmfi.de/stat on which gameIDs are supported.

Altwfc and Wiimmfi are two complete different servers.

Wiimmfi has more focus on Wii-, and altwfc has more focus on DS games.

    Compare
    http://wiimmfi.de/stat
    and
    http://75.127.5.215:9001/

to see how many players are on the servers.
(No, an empty page on the 2nd link is no error, it means nobody plays on altwfc)
