As the title says, the Toshiba Canvio drives have issues with USB loader GX. If the initialize upon start up issue cant be fixed permanently, please add the ability to start up the loader without loading any hard drives and a button on the menu to "search for drive". This way we wont have to unplug and re-plug our drives each time we want to play a game.

You can press B to skip the HDD initialization when loading the loader.
You can also boot without HDD and plug one once in the loader.
To mount a HDD afterward, just go to settings > HDD settings.
If not enough, click on "install partition" option to force a partition check.
There's a known issue with mounting HDD if you start the loader on port1 and plug another one on port0 once loaded. If you always use port0 it should work fine.

I can only use "B" to skip initialization when there is no drive plugged to the Wii. Otherwise it will try to find my drive instantly. This even happens when I have the drive in slot 1. What I'm asking for is a way to not have the loader look for the drive at start up. As it stands I would have to unplug and re-plug my HDD every time I want to play a different game.

first of all, thanks to all the project maintainers for the wonderful work they did, having used emulators for more than 15 years now I know how hard it is to polish rom/iso selectors
on topic:same thing here: i have a toshiba HDTC705EW3AA and those drives match the white Wii color, I would love to keep using mine...
a nice option like "hold B before usb drive is initialized to skip drive initializing..." would be great. Unplugging and replugging is very annoying (in addition to increasing the possibility that the usb port might fail...)
Wonder why it gets stuck there, while if it was plugged after USB Loader is on the main screen it would work normally...

correcrion: while if it was plugged in during the 20 seconds given when no usb drive is plugged in it would work normally

I'm closing this issue.
HDD compatibility is more likely a cIOS cause.
I added a setting to skip drive at boot to prevent pressing B and waiting 20sec.
Though, you'll have to unlug/replug the drive to make it spin right before forcing a remount (in hdd setting menu).
Status: WontFix

Thanks, if anyone would like to know I got another drive for my Wii and used the Toshiba for something else.
