[Tuxpaint-users] Fix for Stamps crash on Win98

Hi,

I sent this file off to bill last night but I must have missed him:

It fixes the problem on my Win98 machine that otherwise crashes,
but it's a bit of a mystery to me why it works on the other anyway.

Could you, Ray and others give it a test?

For the curious, the changes are in cvs, and there is some evidence in
Google that the problem is known :-)
