Hi Bill,
I couldn't find any error logs in the tuxpaint folder. A search for 
"std*.txt" accross all local harddrives comes up blank. If there is anything 
you'd like me to try that would be helpful, just ask. In the meantime, I'll 
try to see if I can track down any conflicts with other software.
