Beta releases of what will (soon!) become Tux Paint version 0.9.27 are available for those who'd like to download them and test them out. We appreciate your bug reports! For Windows (11, 10, 8, 7, or Vista), in either as an installer ("setup.exe"-style) or a stand-alone ("portable") ZIP archive: (from today!) http://tuxpaint.org/files/testbuilds/windows/0.9.27/2021-11-19/installer/ http://tuxpaint.org/files/testbuilds/windows/0.9.27/2021-11-19/zip/ For macOS (Big Sur (11), down to OS X Yosemite (10.10)): (currently, from 10 days ago) http://www.tuxpaint.org/files/testbuilds/macos/0.9.27/2021-11-09/ For Android (version 5 or late): (currently, from 11 days ago) http://www.tuxpaint.org/files/testbuilds/android/0.9.27/2021-11-08/ For Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and compatible distros: (from today!) http://www.tuxpaint.org/files/testbuilds/rpm/0.9.27/2021-11-19/ Thanks in advance! Things to try out: * Magic tools are now grouped * New Magic tools: Lightning, Opposite, Panels, Reflection, Smooth Rainbow, and Stretch * Updated Magic tools: Halftone, TV, and (slight change) Cartoon * These Magic tools can now apply full-image effects: Blocks, Cartoon, Chalk, Emboss, and Halftone * Rotational brushes supported (any angle; different from the old 8-way "directional"), see e.g. the arrow brush * Badge/icons indicate which brushes support rotation/direction and/or animation * Lines and Shapes show the angle of the line / rotation * New Fill mode: "Brush" (freehand paint within a contained region) * Windows "Recycle Bin" used when deleting pictures (via "Open" dialog) * All config. options should now be listed in the output of "tuxpaint --help", the Unix manpage, and bash shell tab-completion * Config. options documentation (HTML & text) have been reorganized * manpage and HTML/text docs about Magic tools support localization (not much has been done yet, though) * New "Frog" starter image * Various bugfixes & build-related changes (especially Windows & macOS) And over in Tux Paint Config.: * The "Use 'All Users' Settings" checkbox (for deleting one's local config. file, so that the system-wide one is always used) has been replaced with a 3-way option that allows the local config to either: (a) ignore system-wide configurations and ONLY use the local config (b) merge the system-wide configuration with the local one (the previous default behavior), or (c) use only the system-wide one (deletes the local config file) * Uses a larger window & fonts/widgets, on modern large displays; UI layout code was heavily overhauled * Japanese translation should render much better Whew! That sure is a lot, especially for it having been less than 5 months since the last release. Thanks again, your feedback is very much appreciated! -- -bill! Sent from my computer |
