One workaround you could currently try is, all in tuxpaint-config: Uncheck fullscreen and set the size of the window to the maximum size of your screen then set Tux Paint to grab the mouse so it stays inside the Tux Paint window and finally set the Tux Paint's button size to something bigger so you can read what is inside buttons.
