For folks interested in Tux Paint on Android devices (phones/tablets), we've got some good news! (1) A developer named Jianwei has joined the Tux Paint project, and is actively working on adding Android support to the official Tux Paint codebase! (See discussion over on our 'tuxpaint-devel' mailing list.) (2) Separately, just today, I discovered that another person, Mark Tu, has built and released (to the Google Play store) an Android port of the latest release of Tux Paint (0.9.23). It's free, though advertising-supported. (Since it's Mark's release, I'm presuming he's receiving the revenue, which is fine with me, and fine under the GNU General Public License (GPL) under which Tux Paint is released.) You can see it on the web here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.happymobile.tuxpaint I've asked Mark to work with Jianwei and the other fine folks who have been helping me maintain Tux Paint, to get his Android-specific changes included in the main codebase, so that the code remains in one centralized place (vs. fragmenting). Doing it this way will help the Android version keep up-to-date with developments (enhancements, bug fixes, new features, etc.), just like we currently do with the Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X versions! (And eventually I'm hoping to see Google ChromeOS and Apple iOS (iPhone/iPad) supported, as well!) Thanks & enjoy! I hope it works well for you. (I tried the June 1 version on my Nexus 5 phone (Android 5.1.1, worked great!) and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 talblet (Android 4.1.2, had some issues), and reported back to Mark with the results.) -- -bill!
