Which version of tuxpaint?, there are builds for the current cvs version wich hopefully will end in a new release at http://z1.plala.jp/tuxpaint/testing/ Windows and Linux Fedora binaries, you may want to test them if your OS matches. Can you try to disable (in tuxpaint-config) sysfonts for tuxpaint and see if this improves startup? > Oh, now that I remember, I had a problem with fontconfig some time ago, not related to tuxpaint but... fontconfig was unable to properly write its cache in a vfat filesystem, I had to configure fontconfig to point its cache to an ext3 fs, create it, then copy the created cache to the vfat fs and configure fontconfig again to point to its regular place. http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/Talk:TomTom at the end of the page.
