FYI, thanks to someone's note in one of the bugs at SourceForge, I've discovered "SDL_Pango," an SDL front-end to GNOME 2.x's Pango text rendering engine: http://sdlpango.sourceforge.net/ It is NOT currently packaged for Debian Unstable ('sid'), and seems to be a relatively unknown project, based on how few SF.net file downloads there have been. So, I've compiled it from source and installed it on my system at home. Here's a screenshot of the test app that's included: http://www.sonic.net/~nbs/sdl_pango.png Eventually we'll need to use this to handle some more complicated scripts, such as Arabic, I think. I don't think this helps the problem we have with non-ASCII entry into the "Text" tool in Tux Paint, though. Any ideas for that? -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |
