I think we've solved the problem by disabling "Time Machine," which  
backs up everything on the computer continually, while I'm working in  
a graphics program. It just couldn't keep up with me, is my theory. ;)
My husband did a number of diagnostics after the iMac shut down  
unexpectedly while I was using Tux Paint or Painter X, and decided to  
replace the power thing (source or panel or whatever it's called)  
inside the computer, as well. Seems to be doing fine now, as long as I  
turn off Time Machine while I'm working.
(At my age, it's nice to know I still can move faster than  
something.) ;)
Because of the line width problem with Tux Paint, I'm probably not  
going to be able to use it to illustrate my book. Still, it's a GREAT  
program, and I love it!
