Hi Gloria.  There is a manual that describes each of the tools and
features of Tux Paint.  It should have come with your copy of Tux Paint,
but you can also read most of the manual online:

  http://www.tuxpaint.org/docs/

It's not really _task_-oriented (i.e., 'how to draw like an oil painting',
or anything like that), but should be sufficient, I think!

This is explained in the docs.  For loading pictures to just draw on them,
you should convert them to PNG format and place them in Tux Paint's
saved-files folder.  (See: http://www.tuxpaint.org/gallery/submit/ for a
brief description of where to find that folder.)

For creating new Stamps, Brushes or Starter Images, see the
"Extending Tux Paint" documentation (available at the URL above).
