Shin-Ichi sent this to me, since he's having difficulty posting to the lists again. :^( I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 which has gettext 0.17. Could there be an issue with this with regards to generating MO files? I've tested with the command-line 'gettext' command and seem to be getting the same results... $ LANGUAGE=zh_TW gettext -d tuxpaint Black\! returns some binary-looking stuff that's probably the UTF-8 for the Traditional Chinese translation of "Black!" However, $ LANGUAGE=zh_TW gettext -d tuxpaint "Yes, I'm done"\! returns: Yes, I'm done! Is there any way I can debug this further? :^/ -bill! ----- Forwarded message from sh...@wm... ----- Hi! I remember that I met the very similar problem a long time ago... In that case, ONLY the the string "If you quit, you'll lose your picture! Save it?" wasn't translated to Japanese, ONLY ON Fedora Core 1. The strange thing was, package which compiled on Fedora Core 2 had no problem even on Fedora Core 1. I thought that there might be some cases when gettext doesn't make correct .mo files from .po files. Just for your information. -- shin1 On Sun Jun 22 02:20:48 JST 2008 Bill Kendrick <nb...@so...> wrote: > > Hey there.
