Well, this is why I use Kubuntu. ;)

  Click "K" menu button
  Select "Add/Remove Programs"
  Type in password, hit [Enter]
  Browse around for software
  -OR- type things into the "Search" field
  Click the checkbox for stuff you want to install
  Click "Apply Changes"

If you need to add different repositories, there's a way to do it
in this GUI, too.

I'm guessing the ASUS people and/or Xandros didn't do this for, uh...s
simplicity reasons?  (Or, I just don't know a friendly way of doing it
than Ctrl+Alt+T to mess around in a terminal.  *shrug*)
