I've just committed a revision to the trunk merging the changes made in the v2.0 branch back into the 1.5.3 codebase. It has taken a while (off and on for the past year or so), but it gives us one common codebase again. By committing this now, I am looking for help to finish it and release a v2.0. The efforts to achieve a v2.0 died off nearly two years ago, but there was some good progress made on features like: - expenses - approvals (for timesheet and expenses) - internationalisation It would have been a shame if these were left to rot. There is another branch (txsheet-2.0-timezone) that has not yet been merged back. The trunk version (revision 496) is not finished, or tested thoroughly, and there is not installer for it. Given an appropriate database, the code Shows most of the pages without errors. Cheers |

Hi Craig, Yes Scott is correct. The link in the menu can be removed very easily. I also lurk in the shadows of the project. Hopefully I'll find the time in 2014 to progress the project a bit further. Hey Craig, I was the last developer to submit a (mostly) working version, there were several others that had made some contributions and had mostly good plans to add functionality, but sadly they seem to have disappeared. I've not used or developed the system for many years now, but I still lurk and hope this project can find some more dedicated people. I would love to see you help out in any way you are able. To answer your question, from memory, if that's the direction the company wants to go with this product, then I don't think it would be very difficult. If memory serves, you'd just need to comment out the menu entry leading to the simple sheet, and you wouldn't need to fuss with changing any additional code. Good luck! -Scott L. Hey folks, I'm just getting in the door here. This app seems like it will do what I want, but I have some questions. The bug I see described (using simple sheets and other sheets for the same period of time causing a ruckus) sounds like it can be avoided by not using the simple sheet. What kind of a PITA is it to just remove the simple sheet and any reference to it at all from the whole application? My wife is a social worker. Her agency works with adults who have developmental/cognitive disabilities, and they're looking to replace the paper time sheet debacle they're currently running with something like this. I don't see any end user documentation (http://tsheetx.sourceforge.net/official-documentation|official is where I went) and was wondering if that something you folks need. My wife and her coworkers will need it, I'm sure. My style is like what you see here: http://fossfolks.com/how-to/using-kc-finder-once-its-installed/ I'd like to see what exists at the moment though, if that's possible. |

Hey! Saw on the txsheet RSS feed that we have released 1.5.3! Presumably this is an interim release and the branch (that still needs work) will become 1.6 or 2.0? I really want to get it out and finished just can't find the time at the moment! Well done tommo for getting 1.5.3 to everyone. Hi, I am using the Trunk version of Timesheet Next Gen and noticed a problem with task_action.php: When I add a new task (or edit a task) and assign it to someone, this information is not stored in the database. I think the problem is that in task_action.php mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST['assigned']) is called and this does not work on arrays. I am on PHP 5.3.2. I applied the following patch and it worked: ### Eclipse Workspace Patch 1.0 #P TimesheetNG Index: task_action.php =================================================================== --- task_action.php (revision 482) +++ task_action.php (working copy) @@ -8,6 +8,14 @@ exit; } +function array_mysql_real_escape_string($arr) { + function cb (&$item, $key) { + $item = mysql_real_escape_string($item); + } + array_walk($arr, 'cb'); + return $arr; +} + // Connect to database. $dbh = dbConnect(); $contextUser = strtolower($_SESSION['contextUser']); @@ -20,7 +28,7 @@ if ($action == "add" || $action == "edit") { $name = mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST["name"]); $description = mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST["description"]); - $assigned = isset($_REQUEST["assigned"]) ? mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST['assigned']): array(); + $assigned = isset($_REQUEST["assigned"]) ? array_mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST['assigned']): array(); $task_status = mysql_real_escape_string($_REQUEST["task_status"]); } I think the same problem applies to proj_action.php but haven't tested it yet. Basically Rob wanted to retire his server, so to avoid someone else having the job of running it I moved everything to sourceforge.Unfortunately, they have been having problems with their hosted apps, which has been annoying, but they're up today. Hello, As txsheet-2.0-demo can be used now with English or French language, I suggest to modify the "locale" field in the "_config" table. Currently, it's a varchar (127). I think that it could be useful to enumerate the "current available languages" (to avoid deception for not implemented translations): At this stage, the "locale" field in the "_config" table could be modified like this: Type: enum('en-GB','fr-FR'); 'en-GB' could be the default value. To this end, changes to use a drop list for this parameter in the config.php page are probably not too difficult to do. What is your opinion? Esteban, have you a Spanish language file (es-ES.ini) ready to add as a third available language in txsheet-2.0-demo? Is someone could contribute to the en-US.ini file or to another language like German? -- Isabelle. |

Hi Dave, I have made the page access consistent, along with the new configuration table that Mark has created. Testing so far is good. I remember some bugs about who sees what, e.g. seeing another person's customers, or something like that. But that's not what this is about. It means for eample, that if the clients form has been set at "Manager" then lower levels cannot access it. This is somewhat achieved by the "Clients" menu item not being presented in the menu list. But the security tightening also prevents someone manually typing the url to get access to the clients page. I'm referring to the 2.0-demo branch. The 1.5.3 branch I haven't looked at for quite some time - wasn't that created for me to add a few new features, I've forgotten? If so I have not kept it up to date. All my work and Mark's work is in the 2.0-demo branch. In my email I had referred to 1.5.3 on the assumption we would release the demo branch as the next number in sequence 1.5.3. What state is the 2.0-demo branch at? I think it is almost ready for beta release. We need Mark to reorganise the install processes and a few other changes and it could be made ready. But Mark says that he will be busy until around Feb before he can start on that work. They're my two bob's worth. Mark may have a different view. Hi there, happy new year too. By all means change the defaults, but the testing of the different settings is more important. I seem to remember some cases when I saw some bugs, but I have never tested it rigorously enough. But when you say 1.5.3 do you mean the trunk version, or the 2.0-demo branch? What is the state of both? Hello everyone, welcome to 2012. After not doing much on TSNG 1.5.3 for a couple of months, I hope to do some more useful development in January. One of the tasks I have reviewed and upgraded is to ensure the security permissions for various forms are consistent with their usage, and appropriate access level. For example, ensuring all forms to do with the definition and maintenance of clients, projects, tasks, rates use the appropriate aclClients, aclProjects etc. I would like to now change the default values in TSNG 1.5.3 for some of these permissions as follows, since the default is to set them all to "Basic". The access levels for clients, projects, tasks, rates, expense categories and timesheet approval should be defaulted to "Manager". This is because basic users should not be able, by default, to add and delete clients, projects, rates etc. Can I get a general consensus on that one? Peter |

Hi All, With reference to Peter's change below (there have been a string of other db updates listed in the upgrade.sql.in file...), I have implemented a new class purely intended for the Development phase of the project. It is called Developer.class.php and it will check for a list of database modifications that are required to make the dev branch run smoothly. It is intended as a prompt that a change is required rather than providing a means for an automatic correction/update of a database. I think the actual update to the db should still be done manually as we don't want to be inadvertently break other developers databases! If you do an svn update and you have NOT implemented the SQL change listed below you will come across an error message that explains a change needs to be made. Revision 439 to txsheet-2.0-demo renames the 'uid' field in the times table to 'username'. This change has been made to make the field name consistent with its contents, and consistent with the user table. Username is the string meaning the user's login name e.g. 'peter', whereas the uid is the user's number or key in the user table e.g. 3. If you look at the contents of uid in the times table, you will find it has usernames instead of numbers. You can use this sql statement to rename the field in your existing database: ALTER TABLE __TABLE_PREFIX__times CHANGE `uid` `username` varchar(32) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL File timesheet.sql.in now contains the username field instead of uid. Hi Alberto, We are always interested in adding additional function to the timesheet system, so we would welcome your contribution. I think the way we could approach this is to have a look at your code to see what you have developed, and to work out the best way of integrating it into our current development. We are currently rewriting a significant proportion of the code into a new release, and aiming to close that off soon to be able to release it. Also, you mentioned Italian translation. Internationalisation is also a major upgrade in tsng-2.0. We have English and French already implemented. So my suggestions to you to get involved are: 1. Please send the code you have implemented for the billing/invoicing so we can review it and decide how and where in the development cycle it can be incorporated. 2. Apply your skills in Italian to add that language to the branches/txsheet-2.0-demo. Look at include/language/en-GB and include/language/fr-FR to understand how this has been implemented.
