The all caps just mean that nothing has been put into the translation files yet. And the bizzare date format, I've seen that before, but I don't remember why or how I fixed it. I'm not really buying into the "oh, we need to protect the users from themselves" argument, but this could perhaps be a user configurable item (once we actually get a working user configuration area). I think you're over reacting to the amount of data being posted.
