Nice, was just checking for possible causes, since I've been running with a self-compiled (and self-patched) version of trn around(-ish) version test75. This had mainly to do with the inability of trn to handle (very) lage newsgroups. I switched to the regular builds when they fixed this around test76/test77. These added their own flavour of issues though. Anyway, all of this is (somewhat) ancient history. >> Finally, something you more or less excluded above, but I cannnot help >> hinting towards it: it is worth considering using trn in trn-mode; it adds >> a lot of extra features which provide more control over how you read your >> news. > > As I said, I utterly abominate Unix raw mode, curses and everything to do > with them, because of their appalling misdesign and ergonomics, and loathe > threads! There's little point argueing taste; I've tried some of the graphical newsreaders but none allowed me to 'process' newsgroups as fast and efficient as trn could. Of course, nowadays, newsgroups aren't that large anymore, but still... I still prefer to navigate news using the keyboard, without having to handle a mouse. > I have located those problems in the source, and trodden on them in the > code. Luckily trn doesn't see many new releases so you won't be very busy moving your patches to new releases. :) >> Good luck, regards, Patrick. > > Thanks. Weird indeed, because most of the actual posting is done by Pnews based upon the contents of the textfile it is fed. > Regards, > Nick Maclaren. Regards, Patrick. |
