Ok, so my ISP changes to using authentication for NNTP. I eventually find documentation online on how to set up TRN to authenticate correctly. Unfortunately, fixing TRN's ability to read and post did not fix Pnews's ability to post new threads (need this functionality, because I am responsible for posting a FAQ to a Usenet group on a monthly basis).
Read through the Pnews man page. It said check the inews man page for greater details.
Read through the inews man page. It said check passwd.nntp.
Read the man page for passwd.nntp and made the requisite changes to the file. No Joy.
