Well, there have been (as far as I know) two fliers left in everyone's mailbox by local volunteers (Thanks guys!)...so everyone should be aware of what's going on. There was also an article in the "Today Cedar Hill" newspaper with our side being well represented by Linda Dunlap (Thanks Linda!). Hopefully, all this effort will be rewarded with a strong turnout at the meeting. When I looked today, there had been just over 100 distinct 'hits' on the protest web site. > Grand Prairie has a major development underway down the hill "generally > located west of Lakeridge Parkway and north of Hangar Lowe Road" just > south of the marina. My daily commute from Arlington works out very nicely with a gentle drive across the lake and through the countryside before I hit the horrors of 360. Of course the existance of commercial activity in South Grand Prairie isn't necessarily a reason for Cedar Hill to kill our rezoning problems. Cedar Hill won't get taxes from GP commercial activity - to the contrary, they'll actually lose money from CH residents crossing the border into GP to make their purchases. Having a strip mall at the top of the hill would tend to prevent CH residents from driving all the way over to Grand Peninsula and thus keep the taxes local. Oh well - I guess that's a separate battle. ----------------------------- Steve Baker ------------------------------- HomeMail : <sjb...@ai...> WorkMail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sf.net http://tuxaqfh.sf.net http://prettypoly.sf.net http://tuxkart.sf.net http://freeglut.sf.net http://toobular.sf.net |
