The new CH zoning ordinance was adopted at a regular council meeting on March 27, 2001. Prior to this there were two public hearings held at the CH High School auditorium where the combined City Council and P&Z board received public input. There were two combined meetings held at the Community Center (just across the street from the subject property) where zoning issues were worked through by the council and board. There were at least two opportunities for the public to submit written comments about the rezoning. Alot of work was put into the rezoning and the subject property was left Estate. I believe the comprehensive plan also shows the property Estate. I do not know what the rules are for the sign posting of rezoning of a piece of property but the signs appear to be nonexistent along old Mansfield Road and the one on Belt Line is detached from the stake and difficult to see. Grand Prairie has a major development underway down the hill "generally located west of Lakeridge Parkway and north of Hangar Lowe Road" just south of the marina. The initial phase is 443 lots on 399.74 acres with general retail and commercial. The total plan calls for possibly 1300 homes. Anyone wanting GR and commercial should be able to find it by just coasting down the hill. Ask GP planning department about Grand Peninsula. M. Johnson |
