Hi,
For those who don't know me, I'm the packager for TiLP on Gentoo Linux, which
basically involves creating an "ebuild" - a shell script that works with the
Gentoo Portage system to automatically download, compile, and install software
from source. From what I hear, it is quite similar to the FreeBSD ports system
(although I've never had a chance to try FreeBSD myself).
Anyway, I created ebuilds for libticables, libticalcs, libtifiles, and TiLP.
These ebuilds are available at http://www.cc.edu/~bredeker/tilp/. Although
these are complete, and seem to work fairly well, the final step is to
actually get them included in the official Gentoo repository.
I've been putting it off for a little while (too much schoolwork for me in the
past couple of months). But since my finals will be done this coming Thursday,
and I will have to move back home and lose my Internet connection, I decided I
would make one last flurry of activity and submit the ebuilds. I will be doing
that (hopefully) today, and will report back if/when I get it done.
However, just getting the ebuilds submitted doesn't guarantee inclusion - and
definitely not immediate inclusion. Unfortunately, since the Gentoo
maintainers seem to be backlogged by the much-delayed Gentoo 1.4 release, I'm
not holding my breath that TiLP will even be in Portage when my fall semester
resumes. But at least the ebuilds will be ready to go when the backlog does
start clearing up.

P.S. roms - I think that "bug" that I though the TiLP build process had with
not finding libusb 0.1.7 was my fault. I just reinstalled TiLP today, with
libusb 0.1.7 and it worked fine. With that out of the way, I am much more
confident about going ahead with the Portage submission of TiLP.
