Hi!
Here is the untested de.po file (since I didn't have time to download &
compile the lastest ti*lib stuff). I guess the UTF-8 Charset that kbabel
defaults to is ok.
And ya potfile error found ;-):
#: src/tilp_main.c:111
msgid "FreeBSDP port, (c) 2003 Tijl Coosemans\n"
I guess FreeBSD port was meant, so I put this in my translation.

Well, how do you write your file in UTF-8 ? Which editor ? The French translation has been written into another charset. Then, TiLP is running into troubles. Well, as Julien already pointed out, recode or iconv will do, though
opening and saving the po file in kbabel will do the same.
I would also recommend to the other translators to use kbabel rather
than plaintext editors (though i bet there is a pofile script for emacs
by now) since it is a quite advanced pofile generator. There was an
older translation by Michael Piefel with many useful phrases which I
could load as a helpfile and then copy the matching phrase with only a
keystroke.
It also prevents you from messing up with \n and %i/%u etc stuff.

P.S.: No, I'm not that much a KDE fan - Window Maker is running here and
no KDE Apps at the moment ;-).

There is also GTranslator for Gnome people which seems to be quite interesting. It manages locale to UTF8 charset conversions, too.
