Ok, I just built the new version + libs.  Here are my results with a
TI89 titanium.  TiLP 0.17, cables=3D0.1.1, files=3D0.2.0, calcs=3D0.2.2,
ticonv=3D0.0.4.

lsusb returns:
"Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0451:e004 Texas Instruments, Inc. TI-89
Titanium Calculator", so the calculator is there.

# rm ~/.tilp	//clear settings
# tilp-2

I configure the correct device settings (ti89t, DirectLink, port #1),
press Ok, and then press "Ready?"

When I press the "Ready?" button, I get this GUI error popups:
"Msg: error occured while writing to the device.
System: No such file or directory (errno =3D 2)"

TiLP2 (linux & win32).
I have done many fixe & improvements (see the RELEASE file).

I'm looking for people with Titanium or TI84+ SE and USB cable.
I would like to know whether TiLP is working fine with DirectLink under
Linux.
It seems there are some troubles :-(

Attached is the tilp-2 console output.  The settings are already
configured for a direct usb ti89t, so this is the output when I start
the program, and then press the "Ready?" button.

This is tilp-2 version 0.13, and: "cables=0.0.9, files=0.1.4,
calcs=0.1.3, ticonv=0.0.3" (all from source) on Debian sid with kernel
2.6.16-2-686 (Debian binary package).

This appears to be a conflict with other USB devices on my system:

Of course it isn't a scanner, but the error message is identical.

[TiLP-devel] TI-89t with DirectLink USB doesn't work with 0.13?

Hello,

I noticed that you folks had announced preliminary support for the new
DirectLink USB cable that ships with the newer TI-89s.  I just
purchased one today and was hoping to get it up and running.  It
appears, however, that there are still some kinks somewhere along the
line.

I installed tilp-2 from here:

and the libraries it depends on from here:
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/374/37479.html

I started tilp-2 from the command line, but it didn't detect that
anything was available.  I confirmed that the TI-89 was connected to a
USB port and that it was on.  I then opened the man-page and saw that
the calc can be explicitly specified:

tilp-2 --calc=ti89t --cable=DirectLink

The manpage didn't mention DirectLink, but I assumed that it could be
specified just like the other cables.  I didn' tknow what port to
specify, so I just left it blank.

I added myself to group usb and ensured that I had write access to the
appropriate devices in /proc/bus/usb/*.  Interestingly:

This is already done by checking the 'USB scan at startup' option in the
device box. When checked, TiLP will search at startup for FLASH hand-held=

on Silver & Direct Link. For others, the user will have to run a full
probe by itself.

Sorry, I meant just checking for the newer silent-linking models, rather
than testing each individual screenshot command.

Now that I think about it, though, if there's nothing connected to the
cable, just sending the initial ping ought to fail.  There isn't any way
to distinguish this case -- an error on the SilverLink's end -- from a
reading timeout, is there?

A slight problem with the automatic USB probing in TiLP II 0.13 beta:

If TiLP detects a cable, but no calculator is connected, then the cable
will not be uninitialized properly before being reinitialized.  The result
is that TiLP attempts to open the cable twice.  On my system, at least --
Debian, Linux 2.6.8, libusb 0.1.10a -- this fails, because TiLP tries to
claim the USB interface again without releasing it.
