Hello,
I have a problem. When Tilp tests if a calculator is connected, an error appears:
"Msg: illegal operation or argument.
Cause: the program which uses this library is buggy. Fire-up the developer!
System: (1854698580) Le fichier est introuvable." (I'm French ...)
Then a second message appears :
"Msg: attempting to use a cable which has not been open before.
Cause: Internal error.".
I have a Ti-82, and my cable is a silverlink. My calculator is on when I start Tilp.
So, why I can not connect my calculator to my computer ? What is the problem ?
Should I buy a new cable?
Thank you !
First of all, TILP II 1.16 is an outdated version of TILP ;)
This is unlikely to be a TILP bug, your SilverLink is very unlikely to be faulty, and if you have a real, old 82 (not the newer 82 Stats / Stats.fr, which are indeed non-Plus 83 and use the 83 communication protocol) you need to use 82.
On Windows, the usual cause of a SilverLink cable / a direct USB calculator not being detected is driver-related trouble, such as:
1) having plugged the cable to the computer before installing any driver for it: Windows then chooses a driver which neither TI-Connect, nor TILP can deal with;
2) installing TI-Connect, which uses its own driver.
Windows hates having more than one driver for a given piece of hardware (at least USB devices). Users have to go through the process of installing a filter driver, in order to work around that limitation of Windows on drivers.
If you never installed TI-Connect before, try forcing the driver to TILP's (libticables') through the Gestionnaire de Périphériques in the Panneau de configuration - Système. The driver that TILP needs appears under the top-level "Libusb-win32 devices" section. May require rebooting.
If you installed TI-Connect in the past, then you need to follow the filter driver installation procedure described in the README. May require rebooting.
In severe cases, getting the communication to work requires unplugging cable and calculator, uninstalling TI-Connect + TILP, performing a full manual uninstall of any drivers related to the problem device, and installing TI-Connect or TILP again. Definitely requires rebooting, multiple times.

Zut! Now, when I start TiLP, another message appears :
"Msg: failed to open USB device.
Cause: Check that the USB cable is plugged in and that the calculator is turned ON! Also, check libusb and usbfs for valid permissions." Then :
"Msg: attempting to use a cable which has not been open before.
Cause: Internal error".
Before, I have uninstalled the cable and TiLP then I've installed TiLP and the cable after TiLP (1.17).
What must I do, now ?

Strictly speaking, the "TI-82 -> Silverlink:#1" text does not mean that the connection succeeded, but if this time, you didn't receive messages about the fact that there was an attempt to use an unopened cable, then it probably did.
Please confirm that:
1) you have upgraded your TILP version;
2) you have a 82 (ancient and therefore relatively infrequent nowadays), not a 82 Stats / 82 Stats.fr (in which case you need to configure a 83). In newer TILP versions, the text of the appropriate dropdown menu entry was enhanced to read "TI83 / 82 Stats(.fr) / 76.fr" instead of just "TI83".
The oldest ROM versions for the 85 and 82 (MODE ALPHA S prints the ROM version, then just exit that screen) do not support "silent linking", you need to put the calculator in receive mode first. The 83 / 82 Stats(.fr) / 76.fr supports silent linking.
:o
I have TiLP 1.17 (I don't konw if it is the oldest TiLP version) and a gray Ti-82, it's sure because I've also a Ti-82 stats.fr.

Yes! I have done it (receive and send at the same time) and the prgm was send!
Now I'll can send programs in my Ti-82.
Thank You for all
