Hi all. I'm returning to thinstation after a decade away and I'm trying to find a way to get a thinstation CD to boot up with Secure Boot. Specifically, I'm trying to get a Thinstation CD ISO to boot up in HyperV as a Gen 2 VM with all the security turned on ( Secure Boot, TPM enabled, etc). I know it can generate UEFI bootable images, but SecureBoot seems to be a bit of a sticking point. Has anyone managed to do this so far? Thanks! --Denver Tam |

Hi Don, I could get it to work. Thanks for your Support. I´ve read a little bit about the "design" of ports and the interaction with packages. I also had a look at the wiki-article "changing to a new branch". I tried to update the environment to the 6.3-Unstable branch, but I could not get it to work. As a workaround I mirrored the 6.3-Unstable branch to a new folder, ran setup-chroot and made a new build in that environment to get the packages compiled. Then I copied the binaries of the new tk package to my "live" - environment. My question: Can you tell me how I can update the "live"-environment to for example in this case 6.3-Unstable? - I´m on 6.2-Stable at the moment I tried it as displayed in the screenshot with the commands explained in the wiki-article. For anyone who is interested for x11vnc: Not only package "tk" is required, also the package "tcl" is needed. So when you would like to implement it, you have to add both packages. Either trough adding to build.conf or to the dependencies-file of "xorg7vnc" - package. I changed the parameters in /thinstation/build/packages/xorg7vnc/bin/check_x11vnc. - I know that theses changes are not persistent if I upgrade to a new version... - Then I have to do it again This file will be triggered via crontab every minute to check if it´s running (default behaviour). The call looks like this for me: x11vnc -accept popup -gone popup -gui tray -display :0 -rfbauth /etc/.vncpasswd -many -q -o /var/log/x11vnc -bg Eplaination: -accept popup -> Generate an Accept/Reject windows when someone connects -gone popup -> Generate a popup Window when the remote-Session ended -gui tray -> Places a VNC-Icon in the taskbar next to the clock -display :0 -> REQUIRED if you would like to see the icon. If this parameter is not set, there won´t show up an icon. Don Cupp schrieb am 03.01.2020 16:52 (GMT +01:00): > > I added the tk port and created a corresponding package. Hi, I don´t know if it´s the right place here, but I would like to address a feature request. I implemented x11vnc and it works well so far. I also implemented the parameter "-accept popup" so that the user can accept or reject the remote connection. In x11vnc there is also the option to show a tray icon and whether the supporter is connected or not, the color of the icon changes. The parameter for that is "-gui tray". The problem is that there is something missing, as you can see in the screenshot. the output when calling x11vnc manually is: gui: ping succeeded. could not exec wish: wish - execlp: No such file or directory So I assume that the "program" wish is not installed. I tried to lookup "wish" and landed on "tcl" (see: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tcl) Is it possible that someone can "integrate" that program, so that we maybe can use the tray-icon of vnc? Kind regards Jens |

Hello community, Thank to the team developpers for all of your work, very rewarding and intereresting. I'm new in the world of TS. Few months ago I started to learn with some web forum, some tests by myself ... I'm not informaticien but I work sometimes with a informaticien partner, and I'm very curieux :D I just succeed today after months of trying. My objectives were simple : PXE boot, No window managers, Vncviewer (for a connection with a DEBIAN), and a disconnection fast and transparancy . I haved a gray screen during weeks ! I finaly find the probleme. It's just because of the original command of vncviewer whose write is : "vncviewer -fullscreen" file : /thinstation/build/packages/vncviewer/etc/cmd/vncviewer.global just delete '-fullscreen'. After that, with a session vncviewer and no window manager for this same session, vncviewer is lauch already in fullscreen. I will work for decrease the image, and enjoy my new configuration ! Have a nice day, DtNeo P.S.: if you want my files config for see, I will share it with pleasure. -- Sent from: http://thinstation.4464.n7.nabble.com/thinstation-developer-f16922.html |

Hello Don, your hint to use the kernel ports from the Stable-5.6 branch was very helpful. Thanks Michael Nah, this was a change they made to what gets installed when you run make install. Used to install some extra files that were used during linking. Very annoying. You should be able to checkout 5.6 kernels, with git checkout -f 5.6-Stable ts/ports/kernel-modules, over your 5.5 tree and get fixed kernel packages. On Thursday, November 1, 2018, 9:39:46 AM PDT, Michael K wrote: That sounds very very familiar. I'd have to dust off cobwebs, but I think it might be CONFIG_UNWINDER_ORC in the ts.config file. Try switching to CONFIG_UNWINDER_FRAME_POINTER instead Alternatively, switch to 5.6-Stable which has 4.14 by default. If you don't want to do 5.6, I'd recommend grabbing at least the port specification from 5.6 for the kernel - there are other changes that might bite you that we've already accounted for. 5.6 has GTK3 though if you want latest Firefox. I know we're still looking to see if 6.1 can be made smaller, but if you want the latest stuff it's where you have to go. Everyone is dropping support for 32-bit and old SysV installs and unfortunately the new stuff has some serious bloat. Hello Michael, Thank you very much for your reply. I was able to boot board with crux 3.3, but a lot of stuff is not working, will report any progress I'll make. You'll need to bootstrap or (cross?)compile the ARM toolchain that you can use to start recompiling the necessary core Thinstation/CRUX ports to get a running development environment. Then you go through the pain of recompiling everything. Expect to spend a lot of time doing this. Because of some independent updating of the master branch, I doubt you can recompile everything. You might have better luck on the 6.1-Unstable branch, which has been somewhat recently compiled with everything together. As it's name implies, it's not quite production ready yet. Hello, First of all, thank you very much for the amazing product! I would like to port Thinstation to ARM (i.MX 6Quad 32-bit processor which is based on ARMv7 Cortex-A9 core). Right now I'm running Debian 8 (jessie) on it. Would appreciate any advice on how to start and proceed with Thinstation porting to this platform. Results will share with Thinstation community. I did get this solved to up to a point. Upon booting the ica_wfc is launched full screen and has a "Log On" button to click. Then you enter credentials and hit "Log In" on that prompt. After then you see the published apps that you can boot from (since we are a college and testing the student environment there is only 1 and it's a desktop). I've become busy and haven't had the time to dive more into how to get the desktop to auto-launch after entering credentials. Is there anything I could help you with? I've been keeping a bunch of notes and can always just turn my machine back on and review what I have. -- View this message in context: http://thinstation.4464.n7.nabble.com/Booting-Citrix-Desktop-on-startup-tp25938p26157.html Sent from the thinstation-developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Did you ever solve this? Or did you go for a browser solution instead? -- View this message in context: http://thinstation.4464.n7.nabble.com/Booting-Citrix-Desktop-on-startup-tp25938p26155.html Sent from the thinstation-developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi, I've been aware that thinstation was using spice. I just figured out it was using spicy, which is only for test purpose for developpers. I'd like to ask if it was possible to integrate remote-viewer (based on virt-viewer) in Thinstation. (let's call this a "package request"). More and more people are looking for a thin client solution to connect to hypervisors (like Ovirt, RHEV, Openstack etc) with a VDI approach and Spice is a real nice protocol for this (much adapted than VNC I would say). I see a lot of posts about this on most thin client OS solutions, but none seem to integrate it...I've seen some post here of people talking about a self packaging/compiling way to get remote-viewer working on thinstation, but it doesn't seem so simple... I think a lot of people would be interested in this functionality and I hope someone will have some time to take care about it :) A Thinstation User |

I have been working on an update to TS, thinking of making it 5.5. Mostly just security stuff, openssl openssh kernels xorg. Let the testing and flaming begin. |

So I found that the StoreCache.ctx-template is what I have to edit to connect to the correct storefront server on startup. However, now I need it to have a log in box pop up and then launch the XDesktop. Would you know how to do this? The template looks like this just in case you don't know: <StoreCache> <DefaultStore>https://myserver</DefaultServer> <ReconnectOnLogon>True</ReconnectOnLogon> <ReconnectOnLaunchOrRefresh>True</ReconnectOnLaunchOrRefresh> <SharedUserMode>True</SharedUserMode> <SelfSelection>False</SelfSelection> <VisibleStores></VisibleStores> </StoreCache> I was thinking that there could potentially be a line I could add something like "DefaultApplication" or maybe another file I could edit to launch the Desktop right after logon. Thank you much! The ica_wfc is definitely what I was looking for. I'll do some research on where/how to store the storefront and then figure out how to launch the desktop I'm looking for. I will start with testing /thinstation/build/packages/ica/opt/Citrix/ICAClient/config/StoreCache.ctx-template and then just deleting the -template from the name. Thank you again and I'll keep you up to date. -- View this message in context: http://thinstation.4464.n7.nabble.com/Booting-Citrix-Desktop-on-startup-tp25938p25941.html Sent from the thinstation-developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

You're using Store Front (based on your https URL), which is not the same as an ica type (which is a direct resource - like a .ica file that gets sent when you select something in the store front). You want an ica_wfc type which starts the self service tool. You'll want something like: SESSION_0_AUTOSTART=On SESSION_0_TITLE="CITRIX" SESSION_0_TYPE=ica_wfc SESSION_1_TYPE=ica You'll probably find that pre-configuring Store Front doesn't work. If you search the list you'll find someone who configures using storebrowse. You could also launch Firefox (or maybe Chrome) with the store URL. I've been doing lots of research and experimenting with Thinstation and so far so well. Now I want to have the Thinstation boot Citrix on startup and launch a desktop which would then prompt the user to log in to the desktop. These are my session settings in the thinstation.conf.buildtime: ICA_USE_SERVER_KEYBOARD=Off ICA_BROWSER_PROTOCOL=HTTPonTCP ICA_SERVER=https://myserver ICA_ENCRYPTION=Basic ICA_COMPRESS=On ICA_AUDIO=On ICA_AUDIO_QUALITY=High ICA_PRINTER=Off ICA_SEAMLESS_WINDOW=Off SESSION_0_AUTOSTART=On SESSION_0_TITLE="CITRIX" SESSION_0_TYPE=ica SESSION_0_ICA_APPLICATION_SET="DesktopName" (obviously not the correct name) However, when I boot the client I get "File not found "CITRIX"". When I comment out the title I get "File not found "DesktopName". Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Or is there a better way to do this? My network admin and I were hoping there was a way to do passthrough authentication. Does anyone know if thinstation will let you prompt a login box on startup and pass the credentials through to a Citrix desktop? -- View this message in context: http://thinstation.4464.n7.nabble.com/Booting-Citrix-Desktop-on-startup-tp25938.html Sent from the thinstation-developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hello! I have to run TS 5.4.2 on a Vortex86MX machine. To do this I need to rebuild a kernel without SMP and with cpu 586MMX instead of 686. This step was done chanching ts.config of package kernel-TS and recompiling it. My problem is on modules aufs and bbswitch. When Vortex86MX machine load aufs module I have a kernel panic. If I run the image on a standard pc i get errors: - aufs: version magic '3.18.22.TS preempt mod_unload 686' should be '3.18.22.TS preempt mod_unload 586MX' - bbswitch: version magic '3.18.22.TS preempt mod_unload 686' should be '3.18.22.TS preempt mod_unload 586MX' and others errors about writing to fs. Recompiling aufs and bbswitch, using pkgmk, not solve the problem. It seems that they still get a different kernel configuration during compilation. What I'm doing of wrong? |

There isn't one. It's looking for the file that identifies it as a common distribution like Fedora or Ubuntu. Usually this can be ignored.
