Well, first congratulations with your new job. Second, thank you for a long and careful hosting of TS-O-Matic. Many, many people has benefited from your work! I'll abuse this moment to ask for others to pick up the task to host a TS-O-Matic. We have many users in Germany, Russia and Brazil, so it would be obvious to look at these countries. Hi, I must inform you that I will shutdown Slovenian TS-O-Matic server in the end of April 2008. The reason is my change of job and I will no longer have access to the server room and company internet access. Best Regards Bostjan Berglez |

Hi, there, I am using thinstation 2.1 with windows 2003 server, i am trying to get print from hp laserjet 1020 printer, it cannot print, also tryied to search drivers for windows 2003 for the same but no success, and another one laserjet 1022 works with TS, but after some time use it gives spool.exe error, i think these drivers dont support terminal services, anybody used these two printers with success with Thinstation under windows 2003 ? I searched mailing list archive got this link http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/, but these drivers are for linux, anybody can help me with this issue ? or tell me how to use laserjet 1020/1022 printer with TS. Thanks in advance. Vino... |

Did you copy over the whole dirs, or just some files from the dirs? Copying over everything makes the initrd quite big, so we should only copy over the files we need and not the whole dirs. I tried to find out what files are needed for ICA to start without any problems, but did not have time enough to pin-point it just yet. Hoping Antti will be able to help here. I have compiled a TS3.0, but didn't include any additional drivers over the standard ones antii had in the thinstation setup (ie. didn't include the amd drivers). Found a couple of dependencies that needed updating to newer versions (the old ones had been removed from the site), but otherwise managed to get it through. It works, but without most of the dynamic functionality of the 2.x series at the moment (ie. thinstation.conf<whatever>) Trevor B On Sun, 2008-03-23 at 21:24 +0100, Christian Schuermann wrote: > Hi! > > I just wanted to give it a try but I'm stuck here > > 5. Hi! I just wanted to give it a try but I'm stuck here 5. Giving up. You asked me to pull without telling me which branch you want to merge with, and 'branch.master.merge' in your configuration file does not tell me either. Please name which branch you want to merge on the command line and try again (e.g. 'git pull <repository> <refspec>'). See git-pull(1) for details on the refspec. If you often merge with the same branch, you may want to configure the following variables in your configuration file: branch.master.remote = <nickname> branch.master.merge = <remote-ref> remote.<nickname>.url = <url> remote.<nickname>.fetch = <refspec> See git-config(1) for details. [...] oesources.org seems to be down for days now. Can someone help me out with the file? Regards, Chris |

You can try and add a gcc >= 4 into the tree, but are you going to compile everything? Major undertaking, especially when there have been MANY regression issues with gcc 4. Main reason we, and many others, are still with GCC 3 (although if we can get 2.3b2 & 2.2.2 out, I might look at it for 2.4 as a part of a complete update of the env). Even then, what does that give you? The binary is looking for a specific GLIBC. You could compile that with GCC 4 and see..... Trevor B PS. I wouldn't even know where to get GLIBC 3.4.4 2.3b1 uses gcc 3.4.4 & glibc 2.3.5 (although I might look at glibc 2.7 to see if it is smaller - but a glibc change is potentially HUGE for a full distro). If you can find the source you can always compile it in the thinstation chrooted compile environment and try it (look at utils/scripts/update_libc.sh). Good idea, but since there is no source code (proprietary software) and the author linked it against glibc I guess my chances are pretty bad. I already emailed those guys [1] but I didn't get any reply. It's pretty dumb because compiling it statically is just an effort of a few minutes (for them). I ALSO copied the Type1 into packages/fonts-type1/lib/X11/fonts and changed the packages/fonts-type1/lib/X11/fs/config file to point at X11R7 rather than X11R6 and seemed to avoid any problems (ie. wfica started and complained about my settings (which is what I usually get as I know NOTHING about ica). OK, my attempt to do a minimal compile of the apps caused me grief (bdftopcf is required to make the fonts - I guess there are others as well). I guess that the trick is to compile them all, but just copy across the ones we want. Sigh!! Hmmm, I'm not sure why it needs the 75dpi. Xorg7 doesn't seem to generate a 75dpi structure at all. Maybe it's something we have in the x script. Anyway, I'm doing a little reading on XOrg7 fonts to fully understand. One thing I did notice was that a number of other people had similar problems and runnning mkfontdir helped (which might need to be included in the build or init.d). I don't think we need to worry about it for 2.3b2, but will continue to try to minimise. Hi Trevor, I don't get any mails from the list at this moment, but I assume that they will be delivered later on so I'll just go ahead and send this one :) I managed to get ICA working. I found out where the 75dpi dir came from in TS2.2.1 and saw that I probably screwed something up while testing with TS2.3 because I didn't get it anymore although I selected the right packages. So I went ahead and untarred a fresh TS2.3 and put in my packages. Now I did get the 75dpi dir, but still ICA would not start. So I updated all the files in the 75dpi dir from the xorg7 source tree and gave it another go. Unfortunately still without any luck. But when I just copy the entire 75dpi dir from source to the TS2.3 tree, then it does work without any errors. So I will see if I can find out which fonts it is that ICA needs and just add that one (or see if I can change the one ICA needs to another one already in the 75dpi dir). Concerning the size of the share/X11/local and share/icons folder, they seem not to have a big influence to the size of the initrd. When I build a initrd in TS2.2.1 with some specific options, and then build it again in TS2.3 with exactly the same options, the difference is ~1.4MB. And then we should remember that the 2.2MB libGLcore is also in that same package. So I don't think that it's that bad. It's bigger then with xorg6, but not that much... Well I'll go on, but just wanted to let you know my findings. Sander |

This adds another 6MB to the xorg7 package which is allready 3 MB larger (mainly because of the 2.2MB libGLcore adds) then the xorg6 package was (I didn't count the extra libs from packages/lib, just the difference between the original xorg6 package and the xorg7 package I created with the added share/X11/locale and share/icons dirs). > > Still some font errors with icewm, but that can be reduced by commented > out the hardcoded _adobe references in the > packages/icew/etc/icewm/themes/xp/default.theme file > > > > For some apps this is not a problem. rxvt for example starts without any > > problems and doesn't even report an error. xterm will also start, but > > does report the errors. I tried to get ICA going but it kept failing. So just for testing I added the whole newly compiled 75dpi dir from the development tree into packages/xorg7/lib/X11/fonts and now (besides having an issue with the .ICAClient dir not being in /home/ts/) it works great. So I checked in TS2.2.1 how it was done there and where the 75dpi dir was, but found that it was not there...!! So how did this work in the TS2.2.1 without the fonts dir? Adding the dir adds 16MB to the image and so is not an option. Well maybe totally striped down if that's possible? Sander |
