Hi folks, Over the last few weeks, I've had several people ask about a PPC version of Themis and/or about problems compiling on PPC. As you may or may not know, I have a PPC machine myself that I barely use, but I haven't had BeOS running on it at all. (It's a Umax PPC machine, I believe a S900 that Be was about to throw out when I rescued it courtesy of Joe Tarsha.) Well, I successfully managed to install BeOS on the machine about a week ago, on my little Quantum 850 MB SCSI drive I had stuck in the machine when I got it. That's the good news; I now know how to get BeOS running on it and have it properly configured to run it. The bad news, as you might be guessing right about now, is that 850 MB drive which I considered as reliable as the sun or moon died right after installation. As I don't want to wipe the primary drive in my PPC to install BeOS, this has complicated things a bit. I came into a bit of money last week, and I have ordered a new SCSI drive for the machine, and I should have it sometime this week. Once I do, I'll see what I can do about getting BeOS and Themis up and running on this old bucket of parts, and let you kind folks know. Raymond |
