I have been using TeXstudio for quite a long time. Recently I started to frequently receive an error message: "Could not get write permissions on file\n%1. Perhaps it is read-only or opened in another program?".

Some details:

  • I am using the TeXstudio 2.12.6 (hg 6632:7777b2b8a906)
  • I have not changed the version recently. The same version was working before.
  • I am saving the files on network drive. It has been like this before. There was some maintenance work done on network storage. I do not have details about this.
  • The files are not read-only. I have permissions to modify.
  • I do not have problem like this with other text edditors.
  • I am using portable version of TeXstudio (the same as before).
  • It is random - sometimes I can save, sometimes I can not.

One workaround is to delete a tex file leaving it open in TeXstudio. Then TeXstudio will inform that file has been deleted on disk asking for restoring it. Choose "Save" and file is saved now.

It is not a duplicate of #1047, because I am getting different error message. I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

It is not a problem if a tex file is saved on a local disk. The problem showes up only if a tex file is saved on network drives (I have tried two).
