TexNicCenter 2.02 crashes to desktop on Windows 10 PC as soon as any projects is opened or any new projects is started. No project can be edited or compiled at all, program is completely unusable.
The same is happening to me. Nobody knows any solution to this problem?

I am experiencing the same problem as of 2019 with Windows 10 (Pro 10.018363) + Texniccenter (TC, 2.02 stable) + updated Miktex 2.9. Both 32 bit and 64 bit TC versions display the same behaviour. I do not encounter any other anomalies, except the sudden crash of TC when a project is open in any way (loading one from the program, open the program double clicking on a project, create a new project, create a project from active file).
Description: File > New > Project: the program shuts down.
Description: Double click on any project file: the program flashes open and then shuts down.
Worth mentioning that I use TC on another Windows 10 machine (Home 10.018363 ) and do not get this issue. So this looks like some bad interaction with specific hardware or windows settings. I guess this makes it quite hard to reproduce and to debug, unfortunately...

You need to disable a windows setting to Show recently opened items in Jump lists, see attached screenshot. After disabling it, all operations with projects I tried were fine.
Interestingly, you can re-enable immediately afterwards the setting, and existing projects are still working well. Only if you create a new project the the program keeps crashing if the setting is not disabled.

I was able to solve the issue following the suggestion given in another similar ticket:

This error unfortunately is still happening for me even after disabling the setting for recently opened items.
