When a newsletter is configured to send text only emails the will appear empty
At least when they are used in the subscription process and are read in Gmail.
When looking at the sourcecode of the mail you can see that the text/plain part is there but it will not be displayed because there is also an empty text/html part.
If the content for a part is empty the part should not be added to the mail IMHO.
