Kudos for Taskcoach, I am using this since a while, and it has really good features.
Since about 3 weeks, I cannot start TaskCoach.
I am using the AppImage version, see the cksum below
2748993733 114443456 TaskCoach-1.4.6-x86_64.AppImage
When starting now, I get
./TaskCoach-1.4.6-x86_64.AppImage
*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
Aborted (core dumped)
This is happening on a Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS.
I cannot remember having changed something significant, except for the regular system updates.
I am very happy to provide dumps and other information if that can help.
Greetings, xgiannak
That sounds weird. Just to be clear to understand the bug, can you try renaming/removing the .ini file just to see if that helps?

Hello Aaron, thanks so much for looking at this problem. I actually had an intuition, and solved the problem. I had upgraded some system libraries, but not done a reboot. I did a machine reboot, and now the AppImage is working again. I will close the bug, and sorry for disturbing. I cannot even reproduce the problem now that TaskCoach starts normally.
Congrats again on this fine piece of software!!
Sorry I cannot close this, is anyone authorised?
Great, glad it's solved.
Task Coach remains great, but it still has so much potential and is so far behind in terms of codebase. If you know anyone interested in hacking on Python to help keep Task Coach going or just to get it to Python3, please help us recruit
Being relatively new to both wxPython & Python in general, I am open to spend some time trying update to Python 3, though I am not at all sure what is involved and I might be in over my head from the get-go :-)
FWIW, I would prefer to work under Windows and VisualStudio Code, though I do have a Mint VM box available.
Already tried to run TC in a Python 3 environment and got pretty well nowhere real fast. :-)
I know that @fraca7 Jerome has identified at least some of the specific changes needed to update to Python 3. He's hopefully available to at least answer questions if not collaborate at all. Besides doing patches here or opening a thread in the discussions, you can try developers@taskcoach.org and hopefully he'll reply. I can try other ways to ping him. Appreciate the help!
