Who actually decides what a skin’s fair price is when you’re trading or selling it?

And I guess the bigger question is, who actually decides how much a particular skin is worth? Why can prices be different from one platform to another, and who decides that one skin is rare while another is just common and cheap?

I actually thought that whoever is selling it is the one who sets whatever price they think is right. And then they see that if it doesn’t sell for a long time, they can lower it a bit. Apparently, it’s not just a market, right?

The price is definitely not set by the seller and not even by a single platform where you’re selling it, but by the overall demand on official marketplaces like Steam. The Steam Market sets the general market price, while other platforms use it as a reference with an adjustment for their own commission. That’s where the price difference comes from, by the way. Somewhere there’s a tradeit code, while another site won’t give you a welcome bonus, somewhere the commission is, say, 3%, and somewhere it’s 5%, and so on.
