Do roosters actually get trained somehow for sabong, or is it just natural aggression?

I read a bit about sabong the other day, I even found out that you can place a bet online. But before that I decided to watch at least a couple of fights. This is so weird, guys... Why are they so aggressive? Are they trained somehow? It looks horrible.

Probably that's why there are many activists and animal rights advocates who are against sabong. Even if it's a cultural event, come on, we're in 2026. Do we really still need cockfights and betting on them?

I think they are trained. In general, you can watch the fights on the Lucky Sabong online betting site, it's all publicly available. And you can even easily place a bet. I tried it too, but somehow the thought that it's not just natural aggression on its own, but literally the result of targeted breeding, preparation, methods involving nutrition, training, and who knows what else. It's not for me.
