Thanks all -- I was tripped up by the "Latest release" 0.4 header date tag, which wasn't updated to reflect the new file within. Have a look at this thread in the archives "funambol ds 6.0 bundle and nokia e61i" Sadly I no longer have the phone because I couldn't get this to work, that was sorta the last nail in the coffin for it. I had also tested it out using the BlackBerry Connect feature for email and that worked great, but my cell provider pretty much rapes you on the data charges. So I've gone back to my Windows Mobile 5 PDA, tied in with my Telus Unlimited Data North America plan with a USB Sierra Aircard and a CradlePoint travel router http://www.cradlepoint.com/ctr350/ctr350.php This gives me most of the flexibility of having an always on phone to receive emails and able to sync OTA with my funambol server at the office over vpn link. Once the TZ issues get resolved, either by me using the SoGO connector or the funambol server side issues (vcal to ical) get fixed, I'll look at setting up my wife's Motorola Q for syncing. There's a very small chance I could borrow the E61i phone from the same client again assuming she hasn't already sold it, she upgraded to an E65, kinda like Pierre Vannier since she wanted something smaller ;-) >From memory, I upgraded to the latest firmware available as of last month before trying the syncml stuff. Hi Edo, Thanks for the very prompt reply yesterday. It was very helpful and explanatory! It seems that I am waiting eagerly all the new features. On the subject of CTP push email. hi, after installing the new versions, the sent and trash folders are not synced to OXEE imap server. I found in docu of ME client, that this generally will not happen - but i am quite sure, that with our last release, at least sent folder was synced (or a copy of a sent mail was stored in servers sent folder) - trash never worked. What are the reasons for that behavior? just a note: you don't need M$ windows desktop to use a WinMobile
phone with Funambol. Currently, it is for sure the where Funambol is
better integrated using the Funambol plugin. On Nokia you can sync
contacts/calendar with the native sync client and use the Funambol
JavaME client to get push email. The Java client is growing fast and it
will have more feature in the next release, and we are also developing
new solutions for the Symbian OS, but you need to wait a bit to have
the same features of Windows Mobile.<br>

Hi Andrea,<br>
<br>
Of course, one might have taken my post as a kind of <i>Open Source /
Free Software fanatism</i> ;-) But on the other hand, working for a
company devoted to promote, use, develop exclusively Open Source
Software, I cannot afford using MS windows. It would be easier but an
easier non-sens... That's why I'd prefer to have less functionalities
but to work to improve them ;-) This is just my David vs Goliath side...<br>
<br>
Anyway, thanks for your reply. I think I'll go for one e61i + one e65
and do some tests with those phones + Carlo's last 0.4.2 TB PIM plugin.<br>
<br>
Cheers,<br>

Hi Harondel, Can you give some more info on what does not work with e61? We did test that phone (and actually also N95 and other Series60) and it works. I have a series 60 3rd Ed. Hi Pierre, just a note: you don't need M$ windows desktop to use a WinMobile phone with Funambol. Currently, it is for sure the where Funambol is better integrated using the Funambol plugin. On Nokia you can sync contacts/calendar with the native sync client and use the Funambol JavaME client to get push email. The Java client is growing fast and it will have more feature in the next release, and we are also developing new solutions for the Symbian OS, but you need to wait a bit to have the same features of Windows Mobile. Said that, I've got a Nokia 6120 and I'm happy about it. Andrea On Wed, Apr 2, 2008 at 2:45 PM, Pierre VANNIER <pi...@az...> wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm planning to buy 2 mobile phones for our office. Honestly, that's not a question I can answer as the E61i was the first phone
I used with Funambol. Prior to the that I was using PDA's for syncing, that's
when I got bitten by the TZ problem when syncing from Tbird/Lightning to
Windows Mobile. I'm pretty close to completely giving up on Funambol for
this reason, it's just not usuable in the real world if you don't use outlook
on Windows. <sigh>
My current phone (hiptop/sidekick2) is in no way funambol compatible. Most
phones make me want to stomp on them with the bad UI design. Of all the
phones I've owned and used (many, many of them), the hiptop offers the least
number of drawbacks. Nokia phones in general offer the highest number of
drawbacks especially in regards to the UI. Way too many menu levels to go
through to do something simple like turn on the speakerphone.
This is one of the advantage of the Windows Mobile phones as you can
generally reprogram some or all of the hardware buttons to get access to the
most used features.

Hi Harondel,<br>
<br>
I can easily understand your words. I was also very disappointed to
see that 2 Thunderbird instances couldn't sync in the real world
(both on windows /or linux).<br>
Synchronization problematic will be IMHO the major problematic for the
next 5 years. From simple non geeks user to ... us, we all realize that
syncing between all our devices becomes a major goal.<br>
I think syncml is a good standard (even if I think XML based standard
over network is a non sense since XML is 2/3 syntax versus 1/3
content....I'd prefer YAML-ML ;-) )<br>
Today, my goal is to find a phone best suited to sync with funambol. I
know there might be some trouble (TZ etc.), but I'd really like to keep
on testing with this exiting technology.<br>
For the little anecdote, every evening I can see my wife trying to sync
(for her work) with all the activesync stuff... She's also turning
crazy !! Hang ups, bugs, reboots etc... It's not paradise on that side
too...<br>
Open source project isn't paradise too, there's no secret potion, we'll
need some more tests, dev, tests etc to keep improving quality.<br>
Thanks to Carlo and his team and all open source volunteers, this
project is gonna improve, like with this new version 0.4.2 : so let's
give it a try and see how it's improving.<br>
<br>
Also, to stay in this thread : I decide to go with nokia e65 (best
quality/price) over e61i (100$ more expensive for a ....simili
keyboard). <br>
Do you have any experience with this phone ?<br>
<br>
Kind regards, <br>

we installed the 6.5.14 ds and 6.5.10 ME client together with open-xchange connector 6.5.8. Within the email client no contacts where synced to the mobile ME client. So far we found two possible reasons for that - seems to be that in the source code "card" ist hard coded, should be configurable in general section of the client - "oxcard" must be used for OXEE. The influence of the jad file leasts only as long as no settings where changed on the client - after that the hard coded "card" will be used? - standard email adress is almost never filled within OXEE - during sync ME client looks for the so called "email (weitere)" on third tab within contact management of OXEE. So, because this is seldom (or never) filled, no contacts are synced to mobile. "Email business" and "email private" should also be checked and if available synced to ME client. regards horst |

Hi Peter, the email messages are downloaded in the inbox of the JavaME client using a filter that limits the message size to 2K (email headers + body) and without attachments (currently not supported, but will be there very soon ;-) If the size of the message exceeds 2K then a GetMore command is added in the ViewMessageScreen. Using the GetMore command the mail is downloaded but if it fits the SyncML max message size (at the moment 14Kb: 16Kb minus the SyncML overhead). Therefore using GetMore: - if the message has body+headers > 14Kb the message is not downloaded. - if the message has body+headers <= 14Kb then the rest of the body is downloaded Please consider also that: - the full message is not locally stored after GetMore (we'll fix this soon), so if you go to the inbox and then go back in the view message screen you have to click GetMore again - the command GetMore is removed if you denied to connect to the network in pone of the previoous attempts. The same happens for all the other netwrok-related commands like GetMail, SendLog, ResetInbox, UpdateContacts... Hope it clarifies a little more. Hi Edo, This may be a bit of a long-shot but here goes. I have what is probably a different and completely unrelated problem. I am experimenting more with Funambol client on the Nokia E61 and trying to receive larger mails, some with attachments. According to the documentation I should see a Get Full / Get More option when viewing a mail. But I don't? I see this option is sometimes added or removed (enabled/disabled) depending on the SyncClient/SyncListener, but don't understand much more than that??? Please can you tell me what causes the Get More option to be unavailable, and what I need to check or do to fix it? Has it got anything to do with why the client is not doing push email? Many thanks, Peter On 02/04/2008, Edoardo Schepis <edo...@fu...> wrote: > Hi, > ok understand now. > My.funambol provides the 6.5.10 release without CTP enabled. > My suggestion was only in case you were unable to use jad and jar. > You can use my.funambol account to test if CTP works with such server > (we currently use it and it works with latest code) > > Regards > > Edo > > Peter Binks ha scritto: > > Hi, > > > > Thanks for the quick response! > > > > Please see below: > > > > On 02/04/2008, Edoardo Schepis <edo...@fu...> wrote: > > > >> Hi Peter, > >> I'd suggest you to wait few more days when we'll release a new version. > >> But you can go to the CVS and checkout the funambol/clients/j2me and > >> funambol/client-api/j2me repositories and build it using the build.xml > >> file in funambol/clients/j2me/mail/build dir. > >> > > > > > > Ok I'll try the build and send you logs. Hi! In my PIMCalendarSyncSource class I do like that to get a VCalendar from the VCARD data Palm Treo 650 sends to my connector: VCalendar vcalendar; XVCalendarParser parser = new XVCalendarPareser(vcard); // vcard is a buffer vcalendar = (VCalendar) pareser.XVCalendar(); ...and below is an example of the data to be processed present in the buffer: BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:1.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc ddddddddddddddddddddddd eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fffffffffffffff gggggggggggggggg CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION: DTSTART:20080402T160000 DTEND:20080402T170000 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR It's not clear from the example, but there is an space between the f's and the g's. And here is the result present in the vcalendar variable: BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:1.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc ddddddddddddddddddddddd eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fffffffffffffffgggggggggggggggg CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION: DTSTART:20080402T160000 DTEND:20080402T170000 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR Where is my space between the 'f' sequence and the 'g' sequence? That always happens when the line is more than 76 character wide. I know this limit has something to do with the Quoted-Printable specification forcing the lines to be no more than that limit in which case a soft break '=' should be used. But it's seems the XVCalendarParser forgets to put back the space. How could I solve that? I was not able to get the E61i syncing with Funambol 6.0, calendar and
contacts, but others may be able to help you get that working.

How can I disable user password encryption in the user database? I'm currently using Funambol 6.5 and mysql as user database. I really need to disable it because it causes some trouble in conjunction with my own PHP programming. Best regards Thomas Priskon |

Hi, there is currently not such permissions scheme in place. You probably have to develop your own syncsource.
