Hi, Red Hat's OpenJDK is available on windows and linux and will continue ofering free patches for ever. Oracle JDK stoped to provide such patches without fee.

I prefer to use the same version of Java for all operating systems as long as it's possible.
As Sweet Home 3D can't run with Java 9 and higher under macOS until now, the Java version bundled with it remains (Oracle) Java 8, and the last version is 2 weeks old.

  I think using Oracle Java for free won't be possible any more.
  Oracle Java and OpenJDK both share the 99% of code.
  I'm using SH3d on Fedora with OpenJDK and runs like a charm.
