In the menu for photo rendering, it is not allowed to choose quality below 3. This is a problem since I need to render a photo without the shadows created by the sun.

What system do you use? Is the Top view option in the preferences pane available?
A workaround could be to make a screen capture of the 3D view

I am using the V6.0, the top view option in the preferences pane is not available and I cannot see how to make it available. A screen capture cannot produce the image quality that I require.

Sorry, but I am not sure I understand what do you mean by 'system'. If you mean OS, I am using Windows 7 Professional SP1.

It will be fixed in the next release.
