Search failing
Subtitle Editor derived from 6.0c, but with VLC and Hunspell checker
Brought to you by:

The Search feature just failed to find a subtitle.
No diacritics and other bullshit, just pure ASCII characters.
The search was set to case-insensitive.
Searching case-insensitively for take won't get me to a subtitle with "Take" (19:17 in time, two subtitles down from the one selected).
I'll upload the subtitle as a comment, as SourceForge doesn't allow me to select multiple attachments from different folders...
The subtitle file for which search has failed...
I've been using a "preview" Subtitle Workshop version.
Hi,
No problem here.
Could you please identify which option was selected in attached picture? I can not recognise it in the picture.
The option 'From the selected subtitle' should be selected, otherwise always only the first occurance would be found.

p.s. You can also use the 'Find Next' menu, it does the same as 'Search From the Selected subtitle'.
Oh, I get it now. Took me a long time to figure it out.
But it is a bit obtuse - how do I cause the more common behavior (like what Notepad++ does), like clicking the Search button once to find the first instance, but repeated presses finding more instances afterward by default?
In the current way, I would have to remember to switch the radio button to "From the first subtitle", then click Search once, then switch the radio button to "From the selected", and then click on Search again. That is a bit cumbersome, to say at least. I won't be able to remember that, unfortunately.
Because the Search window is a true modal window (I cannot change stuff in the root window while it is open), a solution to that could be that clicking on the Search button while "From the first subtitle" is checked would modify the button label to read "Find next". Clicking on it then would switch the radio button to "From the selected subtitle" and cause the original function (i.e. as if Search was clicked while that was checked). Closing the modal window or changing the tab to Search and Replace would reset it. Same for the Search button in the Search and Replace tab.
Currently, repeatedly clicking on the Search button while "From the first subtitle" is checked yields no practical function. So this would technically be a new feature.
I agree. I will change it. Thanks you for the extended descriptions of the issues you give!

Thank you.
I mean me seeing this original behavior and being convinced it has to be a bug speaks of something. Either I am very bad with computers, or that behavior is not ideal. :P
Well, I've been a professional programmer for 6 years now.
I know the pain of dealing with an issue that hasn't been properly described all too well.
I'm trying to be the client I wish I had.
That explains a lot... :-) Only software developers can give such elaborate descriptions.
Will be implemented in the next version, see attachment.
Seems to be working nicely with the 102 test version!
