The new STP 3.0 is now available for use on the OSDL website. We wish to thank users for their patience as we worked through the process of getting it active. You have received this announcement because you have used STP in the past or are subscribed to stp-devel. We now have a mailing list for STP and PLM announcements, that you should join if you wish to continue receiving annoucements about STP (very low traffic): http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/stp-announce You can use and learn more about STP 3.0 by going to the OSDL website (http://www.osdl.org) and going to 'Scalable Test Platform'. New Features ------------ A major amount of new functionality has gone into this release, but the main areas of focus are: * "Multiple-repository" - Patches for software beyond the kernel can be added and tested against. * "Test Options" - Options that tests receive can now be viewed and entered in the web interface using checkboxes and input fields. * "Environment & Sysctl" - In addition to lilo, you can now also specify custom env vars and sysctl settings. * "Interface Improvements" - Interface has been redesigned to match the new OSDL site. Tests are presented in categories. Project dropdown now only shows *your* projects. Host queue length can be reviewed when requesting tests. A summary of the request is displayed. * Many bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements have been made. The underlying engine has been largely rewritten to be simpler to troubleshoot, error messages are captured better, and database interactions have optimized to execute faster. We've divided the STP database from the main OSDL database. Much work has gone into packaging it for easier installation (but much work still remains). And much more... Remaining Issues ---------------- * Mass Request script did not trigger with 2.6.8-rc2-mm1 kernel release. High Priority. Being investigated. * Verifying tests. Most are returning results correctly. Will be investigating root causes for those that don't. Medium Priority. * Interface fixes. The 'critical' issues uncovered in beta testing have been fixed, but the remainder were left for post-release. These are now being addressed. Medium Priority. As you use STP, if you notice problems please report them to our Bug Tracker on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/stp/ (click 'Bugs') Future Plans ------------ In no particular order, here are a few possible areas of work being considered: * More tests! (Open POSIX Test is being added now) * More software to be tested * More analysis tools (graphing, meta-reporting, etc.) * PLM Pull from BK/CVS/Tarball/etc. * RPC programmatic interface (plus cmdline tools) * Multi-node operation (for network tests) * Installation enhancements * Remote client machine operation (s390) * More... If you have additional ideas or wish to express interest in one of the above, please tell us via either the stp...@li... mailing list or the Feature Request tracker on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/stp/ (click 'RFE') Thanks, STP Team |
