Did you get a chance to look at the plugin? I know you were very busy last weekend with the release of 0.5. Do you think it has too limited an audience (being for UNIX and needing ftp compiled into PHP etc.)? I've since modified a copy of your filters plugin to produce an Exim config file for server-side filtering. However, I think that will be interesting for a vanishingly small group of people (Exim + UNIX + ftp compiled into PHP etc. ;-)). I think I'm likely to lose the battle to make SquirrelMail the webmail client for this academic year. The roxen-based IMHO is likely to win in the short term as it is quite robust and uses persistent IMAP connections. However, it is not being actively developed, as far as I can tell. In the longer term, the competition is WING, a perl-based client written by Oxford University and in use in several other UK universities (again, using persistent IMAP). It looks like a real pain to install, though. What really impresses me with SquirrelMail is the plugin ability and its rapid development. I'm hoping my plugins might persuade the powers that be that SquirrelMail is the way to go ... Best Wishes, Chris On Sat, 23 Sep 2000 11:51:05 -0500 Lewis Bergman <lbe...@ab...> wrote: > > > P.S. Time for my weekly set of changes abook_take: * Cleaned up HTML bug_report: * It now lets you pick which list to send the bug report to * Link in bar on top now has spaces after it and looks like the rest gzip: * No longer requires temporary file if you have zlib (YEAY) translate: * HTML cleanup I also altered the filters plugin (and sent it to Luke) to have automatic spam filters. They use MAPS (RBL, RSS, DUL) and ORBS. You get to decide which ones to apply and where the spam messages go. It could be sped up, and I'll take care of that later. If it looks good to Luke, it'll be released soon. I am also almost done with another plugin, mail_fetch, which will probably act a lot like IMP's Fetchmail function. -- Tyler Akins ty...@bo... |

I don't have a windows box to test with but I am not doing anything other than spitting out html at this point so I can't see what difference a browser makes. One of the big reasons blank pages come up in NS is broken HTML output like missing cell, row, or table tags. I see that you have the original plugin that only imports along with the new one that imports and exports. I've written a plugin that enables UNIX users to edit their configuration files for such things as mail forwarding and vacation messages. It uses FTP to transfer the files. I haven't tested it in anger, but it seems to do the job for our Exim installation. It's also my first attempt at PHP programming, so it may be buggy. Let me know what you think! Chris P.S. We're doing an evaluation of webmail clients here in Reading, and SquirrelMail is my personal favourite. There is a line in the file addressbook_export.php that reads: $content=fread($fp,filesize($filename)); After that put this: $content_modified = str_replace("|", ",", $content"); This will output the file with commas instead of the SquirrelMail internal format of the " | ". -- Lewis Bergman Texas Communications 4309 Maple St. Abilene, TX 79602 915-695-6962 |

Hmm, checked, and it the ENCYTPE was in compose.php, so I took it out, and it still does the same thing. I just think that my browser is somehow messed up. I'm not to worried about it, as long as it works fine for everyone else, and if I reload, it works for me. Oh well. No, this doesn't apply. When SquirrelSpell first loads, it grabs the contents of the Compose form with JavaScript and then submits its own form, which has no ENCTYPE. I would think that a good Netscape reinstall will solve the problem (I suspect that the onLoad() function doesn't get called for whatever reason. Your guess is as good as mine). -- Konstantin Riabitsev Nicodemus Project Tech From Russia with love. |

I have had this many many many times with the compose form. I found that sometimes Netscape doesn't like ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data". Try changing the form tag to remove that (if it's in there) and see if that helps. I have never gotten around that problem in compose, because when I remove it, I can't upload attachments, but with it in there, Netscape doesn't respond -- exactly like you described. Yeah, this thing is very wierd. It only seems to happen under my copy of netscape 4.75 on my box. I have mozilla running and it's fine. Every other machine is fine too. Strange -- I wrote it on Linux' Netscape and it's working for me. What you can do is check whether any javascript errors are generated. Type in "javascript:" into your "location" field, which should open the javascript console. Then try to spellcheck your message. When it hangs like you say, check the console window -- if it mentions any errors, please let me know what exactly it is and I will take a look at it. -- Konstantin Riabitsev Nicodemus Project Tech From Russia with love. |

I just got the latest version of squirrelspell today from www.squirrelmail.org, and am having a few problems with it. It seems to work fine under any windows browser, but for some reason It won't work from my workstation, which is Linux Mandrake 7.2 beta. The browser is Netscape 4.75 (I haven't tried from any other browser like Mozilla yet). All it does is sit there and say that it's contacting the server. It's like the form never gets submited that fetches the subject and body data. Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me? -- Gerrit Padgham Systems Administrator CommNav www.commnav.com |

Right away I don't see the need for this. You already have the address in one of your available addressbooks, why would you need it in two of them? Do you have an example of when/how this would be useful? (Maybe we should move this discussion to squirrelmail-devel instead of the plugins list? I'm Cc'ing it there. Feel free to remove squirrelmail-devel when you reply.) -- Pål Løberg Initio IT-løsninger AS pallo[at]initio.no http://www.initio.no/ |

With luck, this plugin will remove one of the items on the list of things to do... Add "Add sender address to address book" while viewing message This plugin will steal the email address from a message you're reading, allowing you to save time when adding someone new to your address book. It searches the To, CC, From fields as well as the body of your message. There are configuration controls on the Display options page. I would love feedback on this. I am curious if I should move the drop-down list to the "take.php" form instead of having it on the read_body.php page. I would also like to point out a minor typo on the plugins.txt file. The "options_display_sav" should have an e after it. (In the big list of hooks.) One of the things that would make this plugin and the translation plugin a bit nicer is the ability to take the body of the message verbatim, before the tags, before the line wrapping, before the "Download" link is added, before HTML tags (<tt>, for instance) are added. Is this possible easily? |

I wrote a ver simple plugin (ALLBOX) that let you select all the emails in a folder display page, so you can move or delete all emails in only 2 clicks. i have test it in NETSCAPE and IE, and work just fine. i would like you to take a look at it and let me know what you think. i include in the file the plugin and a README with some changes you have to make in squirrelmail code.
