Hi, I'm using Squirrelmail 1.4.20 and I was looking for a way to quickly purge my junk mail folder. I loaded the latest versions of the empty_folders and compatibility plugins per the install instructions and enabled them. The little (empty) link shows up next to the folder as I would expect, but when I click it the whole folders panel on the left side just goes blank and nothing is deleted. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jeff Quiros |

Check fckeditor version bundled with html_mail plugin. Limit is in editor version, used html editor and browser version checks coded in plugin. Upgrade to newer fckeditor 2 version is simple. You just have to reapply spellcheck backend changes, maybe fix minor version API differences and update plugin functions to detect Opera, Konqueror and Webkit. Detection should remember that 'Opera' and 'Webkit' can be found on mobile browsers with limited javascript support. Some editor features will be lost as they were removed from fckeditor. -- Tomas |

Hello all I am asking this question to gain a greater understanding more than anything else. I use the HTML Mail pluggin in my 1.4.21 installation. And like many others, I don't use IE, in fact I use Chrome. But as per the documentation, HTML Mail only works with IE 5.5+ or newer (20030624) Gecko-compatible browsers My question is: Why does this limitation exist? I ask this because I am a big fan of Drupal. This product also uses HTML Area and/or FCKeditor but doesn't have the limitation. I am not a programmer, and as such I don't have a working knowledge of fundamentals of programming. But I would like to see if this limitation can be removed so that I am not forced to use IE to reply/forward HTML composed emails in order to retain the composition of the message. I look forward to any comments. Regards Fred |

I have exactly the same problem posted by Joachim Boltz more than 1 year
ago with the same subject.
I'm using the following packages (all are standard .deb packages of
Ubuntu Server 10.04.3 LTS):
- avelsieve 1.9.9-1
- squirrelmail 1.4.20-1ubuntu0.1
- dovecot 1.2.9-1ubuntu6.5
avelsieve is generating the following rule:
if header :contains "From" "aSender"
{
fileinto :flags ["Seen"] "INBOX.aFolder";
}
The rule correctly moves the messages from aSender to INBOX.aFolder, but
the message is still unread: imap Seen flag has not been set.
If I manually change the rule appending two backslashes, it works: all
messages moved to INBOX.aFolder are also marked as read.
if header :contains "From" "aSender"
{
fileinto :flags ["\\Seen"] "INBOX.aFolder";
}
How can I fix this ?

>> i want to know whether openpgp plugin of squirrelmail perform clent to >> client encryption (excluding the encryption done if ssl in used to connect >> the client and server) like in hushmail..... or the encryption is >> performed on the server on which squirrelmail is running. That depends what you mean by "client". Remember that webmail client software is executed primarily on the web server and the browser only does a few menial tasks once the page is delivered to the user. The GPG plugin thus encrypts and decrypts data on the web server. If using SSL, the transmission of the plaintext to/from the user will be encrypted of course. Data in this scenario is reasonably protected from casual prying eyes, but not anyone with administrative access to the web server. This is exactly the same as Hushmail's non-Java-based client as far as I know. I'm not sure you'll find an Open Source version of their Java-based solution, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something out there that could be adapted. However, you should note that Hushmail is seen as insecure because in certain legal situations, they may be forced to turn over plaintext data no matter if you're using the Java-based solution or not. This issue highlights the fact that privacy experts all along have stressed that the ONLY way to ensure safe end-to-end encryption is to run GPG on end user computers -- using something like Enigmail with Thunderbird being one of the best examples of such. So if you're looking for a "solution" that lets end users avoid the hassles of managing their own encryption software, you need to understand that there is no such solution that does not have certain vulnerabilities. -- Paul Lesniewski SquirrelMail Team Please support Open Source Software by donating to SquirrelMail! http://squirrelmail.org/donate_paul_lesniewski.php |

gpg plugin data is stored on webmail server and all actions are performed
there. It is not client side application, if your "client" is webmail user's
computer.
Quote from README.
-----
The GPG Plugin for Squirrelmail is intended for most general-purpose
'convenience' encryption needs. If you are an average user of a
web-mail
system, or if your system is maintained on a secured server that is not
open to the public Internet, then the GPG Plugin can probably be of use
to you in common encryption and decryption tasks. If you have truly
stringent needs for encryption (like keeping governments or security
experts out of your data), the GPG Plugin can still be useful, but it
does not take the place of careful off-line key management.

Hi, I'm looking for information about the Thunderbird Style Address Completion Plugin (tbaddr). I don't see this plugin on the Squirrelmail Plugins page and it doesn't appear to have been moved into the core SquirrelMail distribution. I searched the mailing list archives and the last mention of it that I found was on 2010-01-19 when version 0.92 was released. Is this plugin still available? If so, what is the latest release and where can I download it from? Is tbaddr still being actively maintained by anyone? Thanks! Dave |

Your problem isn't that you apparently refuse to read even just the Quick Start documentation, but that you haven't even bothered to read the plugin requirements in the README file, or follow the INSTALL instructions or just read the plugin's page on the SquirrelMail website. There many different ways to handle the DNS/URL resolution, user authentication and mail service interfaces. With so many options it does take some effort to read and understand all the configuration requirements. I have a single squirrel mail install hosting 7 mail domains. I did have some troubles with the latest version of vlogin and secure login plugins. I was able to seek advice from the list by posting a complete set of my configuration files (vlogin and secure login) along with a detailed description of the behavior I was seeing. I even a proposed patch I used to get everything working. In the end, it turned out all I needed was a small change to the regular expression that processed the domain URL. > > > any thoughts or hints on tutorials> It is FreeBSD server with Dovcot and > Postfix Read the documentation for the plugin again. Look in the "docs" folder for additional information. If you are still stuck, review the support section of the web site and provide the needed details to further analyze the issue. |

Hi, On my server I have calendar_file_backend instead of calendar_sql_backend. The calendar data is stored in my SM data directory, not in a database, so perhaps is the same for you... Hi All
I am attempting to migrate my existing SM over to a new server, but I am
having issues getting shared calendars working as expected. I know it is
something I have missed, but for the life of me I can't work out what.
Note: Everything else is working except for shared calendars.
When I click on Calendar Administration I get the Calendar Setup screen.
But when I click on Calendars or Users nothing happens. No error messages
are displayed.
Here is what I have done.
Copied /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins
copied /etc/squirrelmail
copied /var/lib/squirrelmail/data
Installed Pear MDB2#mysql
Enabled plugins:
1. calendar_sql_backend
2. calendar
3. add_address
4. html_mail
5. mail_fetch
6. squirrelspell
7. unsafe_image_rules
8. view_as_html
9. compatibility
10. filters
11. administrator
I have checked that plugins are working by disabling some and saving, and
those plugins I disabled disappear.
I have tried disabling all plugins and then re-enabling them again.
I have also viewed the wrights on the above copied folders and they appear
the be equal between the 2 servers.
Any comments would be helpful.
Regards
Fred

I'd recommend doing a search for the first dba_open warning and you'll turn up some hints, such as: https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=51086 So you might try seeing if you can upgrade libdb or PHP itself. You can also try a different flavor - gdbm is generally recommended. > While I guess this may be a system configuration issue, and maybe not > vadmin directly, I just don't know where in my setup I need to be > looking. While you might find your problem by researching these errors, I'd suggest removing the (empty) db file from /var/lib/vadmin and starting from scratch, since there may also be a problem when the file is first created. Wipe everything out and monitor both the vadmin and PHP log files the very first time you log in to vadmin. Activated vadmin and it seems it creates the .db file but can't write
to or read it. I suspect the key is this warning;

I have done the following changes to the setup: http://blog.rtfm.co.hu/2011/03/squirrelmail-change_sqlpass-this-page-request-could-not-be-verified-and-appears-to-have-expired/ and now the password appears to change OK in the web interface. But when I try to go to the inbox, it gives me the ERROR Unknown user or password incorrect. Go to the login page When I log in again, I can do it with the old password. in the apache error log I have the following: [Wed Sep 21 20:19:33 2011] [error] [client 80.96.114.35] PHP Notice: Undefined variable: csp_non_standard_http_port in /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/change_sqlpass/functions.php on line 944, referer: http://www.yyy.com/webmail/plugins/change_sqlpass/options.php meanwhile I took a look at the mysql log, observing that it tries to change the password field on a record which has field name="use...@do...". UPDATE users SET crypt = encrypt("newpass") WHERE name = "use...@do..." I have checked the database fields and realised that field "name" should be in fact field "id" in the above command. After changing that, works like a charm! Still the PHP Notice from above persists in the apache error log. I wish you all the best and keep up the good work! Szabi |
