Hi, maybee I found an small error witch generates wrong stored procedures. When I ask a SP to find records by a field witch is itselfs a reference with a prefix, sqlpp will create querry's without prefix. Hope it helps Greetings Tomek Example --------------------------------- <table id="C" name="Client" > <field id="C_ID" name="ID" type="INT" primary-key="true" /> </table> <table id="B" name="Brake" > <field id="BText" name="Text" type="NVARCHAR(30)" /> <reference id="ref" ref-table="C" field-prefix="X_" /> </table> <procedure name="getBrakesPerClient"> <columns> <column alias="Text"> <link tableref="B" fieldref="Text" /> </column> </columns> <from> <qtable ref="Brake" alias="B" /> </from> <where> <equal> <left><link tableref="B" fieldref="ID"/></left> <right><local name="clientID" type="INT" /></right> </equal> </where> </select> </procedure> CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.[SP_getBrakesPerClient] @clientID INT AS SELECT B.Text AS 'Text' FROM dbo.[Brakes] AS B WHERE B.ID = @clientID ' #### But it is B.X_ID #### GO |

Hi Jonathan de Halleux. First tanks for sqlpp! I like not to pay attention to sql code :) I tried to generate an stored procedure for an update. I found out that this feature is not supported by xml_generator.hpp :( Do you plan to implement this? I have not the required overview in programming c++ to do this by myself. Greetings Tomasz Dreßler |

Hi. I have some questions about sqlpp. I use only type="INT" for numeric fields. When I use type="SMALLINT" in my sema.xml I get the error error CS0029 implizit convert from type 'int' to 'short' not possible during compilation. Only integer is supported in generated classes? Sqlpp support this syntax for stores procedures: (found in sqlpp 2.12) <field table="O" ref="orderid" alias="OrderID" /> ? Or only this syntax <column alias="OrderID"> <link tableref="O" fieldref="orderid" /> </column> ? Can I implement select "*" from table where [..] as store procedure? How can I include a fixed value in my SP? [...] </left> <right> <equal> <left> <link tableref="T" fieldref="IsCostumer"/> </left> <right> <??? value="True" /> ???? <!-- <local name="isCostumer" type="BIT" /> --> </right> </equal> </right> </and> </where> I hope you find some time to answer. Greetings Tomasz Dreßler |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Halo! I use sqlpp with a big database now. I won lots of time with sqlpp. :) I hava a short question. Is it possible to use type="SMALLINT" for primary key in combination with auto increment? When I am use the following table definition <table id="ZahlungArt" name="ZahlungArt" field-prefix="ZahlungArt" qualifier="" fixed="false" signed="false" suffix=""> <field id="ZahlungArtID" name="ID" type="SMALLINT" primary-key="true" /> <identity field-id="ZahlungArtID" start="1" step="1" /> </table> I get this error: ZahlungArtDB.cs(62,31): error CS0029: implizite convert from type 'int' to 'short' is not possible. Of couse I can life with this behaviour. :) But maybe it is a bug. Tomek |

When you can a foreign-key, sqlpp adds all the primary-key fields to the linked table without altering the names. Now this approach does not work if you link "twice" the same table or you are doing a self-reference. In that case, you can use reference/@field-prefix to tag the name of the added fields. For example, field-prefix="Parent" will lead to field: ParentUserID and so on. In your case: <reference id="ref_myBoss" ref-table="users" field-prefix="Parent" nullable="true" /> At 14:41 24/04/2004 +0200, you wrote: >Hi! >Can I implement a reference from a foreign key to a primary key field >in the same table? >I try the something like this: ><table id="users" name="Users" field-prefix="User" qualifier="test_" >fixed="false" signed="false" suffix=""> > <field id="userid" name="ID" type="int" primary-key="true" /> > <!-- <field id="bossid" name="bossID" type="int" /> --> > <field id="username" name="Name" type="NVARCHAR(30)" > nullable="false" /> > <field id="userlastname" name="LastName" type="NVARCHAR(30)" > nullable="true" /> > <reference id="ref_myBoss" ref-table="users" field-prefix="" > nullable="false" match="userid" name="bossid" /> > <!-- <reference id="ref_myBoss" ref-table="users" > field-prefix="" nullable="false" name="bossid"/> --> ></table> >but I get error that a "duplicate field name while creating foreign keys" >was found. >Could you help me? > >What make the match and name attribute in reference-type tag exactly? > >Thank you! > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.net email is sponsored by: The Robotic Monkeys at ThinkGeek >For a limited time only, get FREE Ground shipping on all orders of $35 >or more. Hi! Can I implement a reference from a foreign key to a primary key field in the same table? I try the something like this: <table id="users" name="Users" field-prefix="User" qualifier="test_" fixed="false" signed="false" suffix=""> <field id="userid" name="ID" type="int" primary-key="true" /> <!-- <field id="bossid" name="bossID" type="int" /> --> <field id="username" name="Name" type="NVARCHAR(30)" nullable="false" /> <field id="userlastname" name="LastName" type="NVARCHAR(30)" nullable="true" /> <reference id="ref_myBoss" ref-table="users" field-prefix="" nullable="false" match="userid" name="bossid" /> <!-- <reference id="ref_myBoss" ref-table="users" field-prefix="" nullable="false" name="bossid"/> --> </table> but I get error that a "duplicate field name while creating foreign keys" was found. Could you help me? What make the match and name attribute in reference-type tag exactly? Thank you! |

How can I implement a compositional primary key which references a foreign key from an other table? I send you a nant build script which I have made suitable for your example. Thanks Greetings Tomek ### pseudo example create table customer( customerID INT NOT NULL, customerName nvarchar(50), PRIMARY KEY (customerID) ); create table task( customerID INT NOT NULL, orderID INT NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (customerID,orderID), FOREIGN KEY (customerID) REFERENCES customer (customerID), ); |

Hi! I finshed the build-script :) With the build.xml you can build the SQLpp.exe without using VS.NET. dal.xml contain targets I used to execute sql-querys and build dal.dll from *.cs files. Place the scripts in same file hierarchy as iobind and sqlpp folder and enter 'nant -f:build.xml' Feel free to use and modifiy my scripts. Tomek |

Hi! In 2.13 (beta) the file "sqlpp/SQLpp/sqlpp/queries/stored_non_query_procedure.hpp" is missed. So I copy they from sqlpp 2.12. It runs but it could be dirty? Please use this bulid.xml. I have add a "clean" target and remove a error in "build" target. Greetings Tomek |

XML now supports select procedures! How is the NAnt doing ? I have added xml_generator_lite which hides all the C++ stuff. 'execute folowing stored procedure ' SELECT * FROM dbo.[kundes] AS K ' INNER JOIN dbo.[Unterbrechungs] AS U ' ON K.KundeNr = U.KundeNr ' WHERE K.KundeNr = @KundeNr Dim storedProc As New EarNet.Providers.StoredProcSqlDataProvider DataGrid.DataSource = storedProc.UnterbrechungsByKundeDataSet(1) 'now I make changes in dataset 'fetch changed rows Dim tChanges As DataTable = CType(DataGrid.DataSource, DataSet).Tables(0).GetChanges() How I can get a Collection of UnterbrechungDataReader objects now, so I that it is possible to do the following: For each x as UnterbrechungDataReader in col unterbrechungDB.UpdateUnterbrechung(x) Next thanks for attention |

When I finish prototype for my application and I could share this documents. With some help of my girlfreind I can translate this documents in english language. ;) The documents have the character of a tutuorial. When your are interested I could send you a hyperlink afer I finish my work. Tomek |

In order to have multiple column primary key, you must do: 0) suppose we have the table User, we want the two columns Name, LastName to be the PK table_shared_ptr user = db->add_table( ... ); 1) add the fields that are part of the primary key and store de fied_shared_ptr: field_shared_ptr user_name = user->add_field("Name", ...); field_shared_ptr last_name = user->add_field("Name", ...); 2) use set_primary_key method to specify the table PK. You can do that by passing the names of the columns, the field pointer, etc... field_container_type fields; fields.push_back( user_name ); fields.push_back( last_name ); user->set_primary_key( fields ); That's it :) At 09:04 18/03/2004 -0600, you wrote: >The question(s) and comments below were transferred from support request. >I am still using sqlpp and I have had few problems with the C++ Libs. The question(s) and comments below were transferred from "support request". I am still using sqlpp and I have had few problems with the C++ Libs. I use the multi-column primary and foreign key methods extensively. In fact, I have generated flawless queries with multiple tables having multi-column PK and FK relationships. The problems outlined below began when I generated ASPX, C# code behind and C#. Regards, Randall Davis Previous JD comments: Hi, if you are still using sqlpp it would be nice to discuss such features in the mailing list. You can define multiple primary key without problem. I'll put an example on the wiki. R.D. Question: Summary: Primary Keys Initial Comment: I am using sqlpp to model and QBE using a meta data repository and I have had great success with a few exceptions(spacing around "AND" in joins). I make a few changes and it seems to work fine. I am now testing CS and aspnet generation. I am using release 2.9, XP pro and VS2003. I am new to C# and ASP.NET and the DNN approach to data access, but the problems I am having actually occur due the assumption that primary keys are generated ids or sequences. All of the pk's and fk's in my repository are multi-column and must be input by the user. The CS generator and aspnet generators (implicitly) assume that the pks are generated. Is there a way to get around this assumption? BTW, the control generator generates code to access text boxes that are not created for primary key columns. There is also a problem with this construct // m_RA_IDE_CHANGE_RULE_TBLDataGrid.OnItemCommand= "m_RA_IDE_CHANGE_RULE_TBLDataGrid_Click"; the method is not accessible due to protection level. Booleans should be initialized with true (currently "True"). This gives a string conversion error. |

Nope, you need visual studio .Net. moreover, SqlppNet is outdated!
