3.4.3.5. Scoped beans as dependencies

You will only need to use <aop:scoped-proxy/> if you need to inject the scoped 
bean into some other bean.  Spring treats scoped beans like a subtype 
of "prototype" so without a proxy it has no knowledge of scoped beans after 
they are created and "scoped"

Well, access via the "BeanFactory.getBean" method does not require a proxy -
so if anyone uses straight BeanFactory access, for example in turn to wire
request-specific command objects (such as WebWork or JSF actions) or any
intermediary Spring prototype beans, raw scoping is perfectly sufficient.
 
Additionally, raw scoping does not require anything beyond Spring's core
container, and will work with any kind of target object (since it doesn't
impose any proxying requirements on the target class).
 
This is why proxying needs to be explicitly requested: It is the more
specific functionality - from a Spring subsystem point of view, from an
external dependency point of view (CGLIB), and from a
requirements-on-target-class point of view.
 
That said, we have considered auto-proxying of scoped objects if they are
referenced from a singleton bean definition, since this is a pretty clear
indication that the scoped object is supposed to be proxied. However, that
hasn't been implemented yet, since it's not really trivial to handle this in
a general fashion. It's still under consideration, though.
 
For the time being, I actually don't think that adding the
<aop:scoped-proxy/> tag is such a burden... in particular since there
shouldn't be that many scoped objects in a typical application in the first
place!

[Springframework-developer] AbstractUrlViewController -- Bug or by design?

I was looking at the AbstractUrlViewController while experimenting
with "Pretty URL's" and noticed something that I thought was odd.

This class defines a private UrlPathHelper class variable, and exposes
two methods for setting properties on the UrlPathHelper.  However the
UrlPathHelper is not exposed to any subclasses, the variable is
private and there is no getter method for it.  Nor does the
UrlPathHelper get used any way that is visible to a Subclass.  It has
one method called on it,
this.urlPathHelper.getLookupPathForRequest(request); whose value is
then sent to the debug log.

I looks like at one point the intention was to pass the value of that
method call on to the subclass via the protected abstract method
getViewNameForRequest, but instead the request object is passed along.

I am new with cron and get into troubles to develop some crons or rather
simple triggers:

 

My program lets a user filling a form to create a person. This person needs
to be stored in a database (its properties: name, email, username,
password...etc). But I would like this person to be created later for
example the 10th of September 2006 at 8am or in 2 weeks exactly. Then I will
need a cron to create automatically this person in the database at the
chosen date. Trying to understand how to do that with Spring I read
http://www.springframework.org/docs/reference/scheduling.html and I was
obtaining some xml file and code like this:

Is it correct? But then how is this cron launched?
EthicFlow_CreatePersonJob.executeInternal()??
Did I miss something? I have no choice than using cronTrigger rather than
simpleTrigger if I want to define a date to launch a cron?

I agree, simply because those two paragraphs could be talking about tags in
general ;)

Even if  it was as simple as  <form:static name="abc" value="efg"/> it would
allow the form:xxx tags to be extensive, as well as internally consistent.
They would also have the added value of taking part in any nested bind paths
(assuming the others do that???)

Just my 0.78 cents ;)

I don't have a problem with the plain html.  It works well, but you  
need to have an understanding of how the Spring binding works.   This  
is hidden by the <form:xxx> tags.

 From a language perspective it would be nice to have the ability to  
use a <form:xxx> tag on anything that gets submitted with the page  
including the submit button.  That would make it clear what gets  
submitted by just looking at the jsp code.  I think this would be  
beneficial for programmers that don't do a lot of web programming.   
Just a thought.
