Dear developers, =20 I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I am currently working on a project in Hong Kong that use JasperReport for reporting and the client need some clarification from us before approving the use of open source software like Spring in the project.=20=20 =20 Following are the questions that I received and cannot find the answer on the net: =20 1. Does the maintainer perform any review of contributions (other than a technical review) to understand whether he has the right to redistribute the code or does the maintainer accept contributions without asking questions? =20 2. Specifically, does the maintainer require contributors to accept/sign any kind of contributor's statement? If yes, could you provide a copy to me =20 3. How long has this package been available? Has the license changed over time?=20=20 =20 4. Has this code been distributed by others? If yes, who and how so? =20 This is critical to our project and would appreciate if you can help. =20 Thanks and regards, P.H. Hi all, I've been trying to learn how Spring works. I ran findbugs on the source, and I came across something I didn't understand. I might be missing something, so I wanted to ask to make sure. In org.springframework.aop.aspectj, the class AspectJPointcutAdvisor implements Serializable, but it doesn't provide a serialVersionID. Also, the advice field is AbstractAspectJAdvice, of which no subclass implements Serializable either. This would only be a problem if someone wanted to serialize AspectJPointcutAdvisor, but I can't see a reason why anybody would want to. If they did, however, it wouldn't work. Is this intentional (is there a use case I'm missing)? Thanks for your help! --Ben |

I've made improvements to the Dynamic Lanaguage Support for JavaScript. The fixes include: -Method calls to JavaScript-backed beans automaticly return the correct class type, rather than just Proxy. -<lang:javascript> now supported So... How can I get the source code checked into CVS? I'd attach the sources to the issue (SPR-1933) like I did last time, but that's kind of painful. (I never attached the unit tests and their supporting files last time, for example.) I'd be happy to email the files to someone with CVS commit rights if getting my own account isn't possible. Please advise, James Tikalsky Fort Worth, TX |

Hi everyone, I've written an implementation of ScriptFactory using the Rhino implementation of JavaScript, and now I'm trying to figure out how to define a lang:javascript or lang:rhino tag. I see a spring-lang-2-0.xsd file with some definitions... What file/where is this file interpreted? James Tikalsky Fort Worth, TX |

I think this is because in Maven1 there really wasn't a default naming convention for the groupId, so the repositories have these to maintain backward compatibility. Most new libraries being posted to the Maven repositories follow the standard naming convention of using the fully qualified domain name for the groupId followed by the module name, which is why you'll find the new Spring libraries in org/springframework instead of just /springframework. There is a really good free eBook available for Maven2 from the guys over at Mergere, here is the link http://www.mergere.com/m2book_download.jsp Here is a snippet talking about the groupId naming convention... "groupId: this setting indicates your area of influence, company, department, project, etc., and it should mimic standard package naming conventions to avoid duplicate values. For this example, you will use com.mergere.m2book.migrating, as it is our 'unofficial' example version of Spring; however, the Spring team would use org.springframework" Jeremy Anderson -----Original Message----- From: spr...@li... It's not that it's confusing...it's just that there are now at least 3 places Spring is located in the main maven repository depending on the version break. And there's no documentation on the Spring website as to where Spring might be in that repository. Without "just knowing", there's no real way to tell Spring had moved from /spring to /springframework to /org/springframework . Someone like myself coming in new to the maven world can easily get lost trying to find things.
